like, i get that you will feel the risks are less involved, being a bit more first hand with managing large projects and seeing it more as the cycle of growth and decay that's always existed

but, like, i do think you can understand that other people might feel more looming dread about stuff

personally, i'm more of a cynic, seeing dev tools being bought out only makes their position within the ecosystem more obvious rather than less fragile

but like yeah i think this just feels like the further encroachment of what used to feel a little more like a community project than a vendor consortium, given all the other masks have been pulled down, y'know?

@tef @xgranade the vibes are rancid for sure but that also doesn't necessarily mean that there's any appreciable harm beyond unpleasant aesthetics. which does clarify its priority in the omnicatastrophe

@tef @xgranade re: the looming dread, that's exactly what I'm thinking out loud about here. is it an emergency existential risk, or is it a mildly unfortunate but livable compromise? thought distortion we should do some breathing exercises about or massive organizing challenge that demands urgent action? I can't say to feel _good_ about it but given the long list of the latter, it's good if we can make it more of a mental health exercise by classifying it as the former

@glyph @xgranade i feel the thing worth noting here is that we all get to draw a line on where livable compromise is

and it should not be surprising to find that some people do not find it livable, and other people would compromise a lot more for the modest benefit heh
