"this downright black-and-white refusal of generative AI is childish"

Okay, now replace"AI" with child labor and say that again. Because a lot of the moral arguments against genAI are similarly structured than those against child labor.

@tante recently someone said that the work which is done by "AI" was done by child labour in the past, so because I'm against "AI" I'm in favour of child labour (this was more implied)

@tante But the new child laborers have gotten insanely useful. All companies use child labor nowadays. It's never going to go away, do you want to get left behind? And they're not child labor, they're super labor. You just have to use them responsibly. Also the children are going to kill us all and turn us into paper clips.

@tante child labor is here to stay. Refusing it ouright is futile. I have open source child labor that I use at home that is trained on open toys.
I like to direct and ideate while child labor does the heavy lifting and that’s my new skill set that I offer to child-labor-first employers.
The efficiency boost through using child labor gives me more time to focus on the important things – like my children.
