So, @thunderbird #thunderbird is rolling out its paid #Thundermail offering, competing with the likes of #FastMail. It offers email (#JMAP, #IMAP, and #SMTP support, with 30 GiB of email storage), Calendars, Contacts, Send support (up to 60 GiB storage), and some sort of appointment-setting tool as well. Also, 3 custom domains and 15 email addresses. Server-side filters are apparently in the works (presumably, using #sieve filters?) as well. And, it's all powered by #stalwart / stalw.art.
And... all of that, at 6 USD/month, billed annually (at least for early birds). That is on par with what I'm paying FastMail (I have to have a duo plan there to support two proper email accounts [not just aliases or custom domains], and I imagine Thundermail would have similar restrictions).
I'm definitely interested (especially to see how it plays with the #OpenPGP ecosystem). I think that sustainable Free Software development will ultimately involve something like this model of support via hosting like this.
Alas, I have to get new tires for at least my front wheels, so that's eating up my limited part-time income.
