it's curious to think about parties who were VERY CONCERNED about "learning loss" due to remote education in the early pandemic and yet are not the least concerned about hastily handing over both higher and lower ed to a chatbot now

also curious to think about parties who were VERY CONCERNED about "learning loss" due to remote education in the early pandemic and yet are not the least concerned about learning loss due to the virus itself

@sabik @inquiline @n_hold inclaculable how much more I learned from private study with occasional prompting than by waiting for a teacher to read out the same text. and tell me off for talking/staring out of the window/drawing cartoons because I was an annoying twat when I was bored but not allowed to leave or do anything at all

@sabik @inquiline @n_hold I had some really good teachers and obv school taught me a fair bit. But still a fraction of what I could have learned if we weren't still going by 19th century notions aimed chiefly at stashing kids out of the way to keep industry ticking over

@sabik @inquiline @n_hold but sure. Two months of reading from a screen instead of travelling 2 hours a day to read off a whiteboard would have made me illiterate or whatever
