Antwort: Nein. Ich erklärte der Dame am Empfang, dass ich keine Bahnbonus App möchte und alter Stammkunde bin. Das änderte nichts daran, ich wurde (wieder) nicht eingelassen, die Dame sagte noch "naja, ohne App und mit einer Probe-Bahncard ist das schlecht". Welch ein Hohn für einen Vielfahrer.. Ich halte diese Einschränkung für nicht rechtens und habe einen Termin für eine anwaltliche Beratung. Sofern meine Rechtsauffassung bestätigt wird, werde ich das Deutschlandticket auf dem Rechtsweg einfordern.
Bis dahin stehe ich auf dem Standpunkt, dass ich über einen gültigen Fahrausweis verfüge. Ich werde berichten, wie sich das entwickelt.

Dies funktionierte auch problemlos: Ich habe die neue Bahncard online gekauft (es gibt gerade eine Rabattaktion) und danach den Service angerufen. Innerhalb von ca 3 Stunden erhielt ich ein PDF, ähnlich einem regulären Online-Ticket PDF.
Während des Buchungsprozesses gab es immer wieder Hinweise "Nur mit App nutzbar".
Während des Telefonats mit dem Service wurde mir erläutert, ich könne bei Nutzung des Ersatzdokuments das Deutschlandticket nicht nutzen, das wäre nur digital möglich. ...

Ich habe seit ca 15 Jahren fast durchgängig eine Bahncard 100; die letzte Plastikkarte wurde vor 5 Tagen ungültig.
Ich möchte die DB App nicht nutzen, da sie meiner Kenntnis nach Daten zum Nutzerverhalten in relevantem Ausmaß an nicht vertrauenswürdige Unternehmen ausleitet ("Tracking").
Ich habe mir vor dem Kauf der digitalen BC100 versichern lassen, dass ich ein "Ersatzdokument" erhalten kann.

Serious question triggered by the #flock bs: How would you even avoid "hardcoding" credentials in an appliance? Sure, you can use an HSM/TSM/Enclave, but ultimately this is just security by obscurity, because the OS needs to boot unattended and eventually keys/secrets need to be available to the software. With access to the hardware, there is always a way to extract key material. It might be difficult/expensive, but I see no way around that.

Now, last but not least: LLMs and Gen AI are a HUGE problem in way too many ways: The copyright infringement, the license infringements, the power/water consumption, the use of minerals, the concentration of power and control, the influence on societies and political systems. I probably forgot to mention many more.
But, as a human, I need to accept that I cause harm, just by my sheer existence. Not to take it as an excuse, but to make conscious decisions. My decision is to use LLMs sparingly.
