Does #Bonn already have a #NixOS or #RustLang meetup? 🤔

Why is .config/ in git repositories not a thing? As an XDG_CONFIG equivalent to move .vscode, .zed, .forgejo away from the repository root, that would be pretty nice.

So @mozilla shut down their own Mastodon instance, don't post on their mastodon.social account anymore either, have no official Firefox presence on the Fediverse anymore (besides developer-focused accounts @firefoxwebdevs and @firefoxnightly, which do a great job but serve a different audience), and then pull shit like this. What an utter disappointment indeed.

#Firefox #Mozilla #MozillaFirefox

Does #Loops yet fully federate with #PeerTube? Can I subscribe to Loops users and watch their videos from within PeerTube and/or the other way around?

We've started a #Fluxer community for #Nix, #NixOS and the wider ecosystem:

That ended up being as easy as adding vulkan-loader to my #nix development shell (no macOS-specific code paths needed in my Rust code), thanks to the work done by Randy in https://github.com/reckenrode/nixpkgs/commits/kosmickrisp/ and of course thanks to the awesome work done by the #KosmicKrisp developers at #Mesa

Wanted to follow https://www.howtovulkan.com/ by @sascha on my laptop using #RustLang and the ash crate. For a split second I forgot Apple hates #Vulkan until I tried creating an instance. At least I now have a reason to check out #KosmicKrisp again.

I wonder if consciously avoiding the style and patterns frequently applied by generative AI might be triggering some kind of forced language evolution. Previously considered best practices that are now shunned to not sound like a machine.

Looking forward to #FOSDEM this weekend but I doubt it will be a recurring event for me, with it being in peak flu and COVID season. May my stack of FFP2 masks protect me well.

Of course saying dioxus-native is "servo based" is a bit oversimplified, it's using a few great crates for different problems, such as Servo's Stylo for CSS, linebender's Parley for rich text layout, and Taffy for box / flex / grid layout, co-developed by Dioxus, Servo, Zed, Bevy and others.

I've been tinkering on a Discord-inspired native #Matrix client on and off for the past three years. During this time it has gone back and forth between #Slint and #Dioxus, because Slint is always lacking one specific feature (this time rich text rendering, which is coming in the next release apparently) and Dioxus requires a fullblown webview. I finally got to try out the #Servo based modular dioxus-native / blitz and it works amazingly well for my existing dioxus code already!

#Eventbrite to be acquired by #BendingSpoons, following their acquisition of #Meetup.com which caused many users to migrate to Eventbrite in the first place. I think at this point it becomes very obvious that the #Fediverse is the best place to coordinate your meetups, and you have many options to choose from: #Mobilizon, #Gancio and even #Wordpress with the #ActivityPub Event Bridge plugin. Everyone knows Bending Spoon's playbook, enshittification is inevitable.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this has lost them a potential customer and we're fully sticking to @hetzner going forward.

Edit: Retrospectively I was exaggerating after all. OVH's object storage solutions are pretty great.

When #OVH states their event is held entirely in English but then you come to the two hour keynote and it's entirely in French without any bullet points or subtitles. So that was a damn lie. Hardest listening comprehension exercise of this year.

Very French, I'll have to make sure to take @to along next time.

If you are listening to the "Fulltime #Nix Podcast", maybe reconsider that choice.
