Happy 6 year (and 1 day) anniversary to one of the most unhinged posts I’ve ever made: the HTML5 accelerator card

*seufz*

Today I learned that browsers do not only have the *option* to hide the user's preferred languages from websites, but that Chrome and Safari *always* hide all languages except the first one from websites.

Which means that their UI to add and re-order multiple preferred languages is mostly useless and definitely misleading.

And since those account for 85% of web users (across mobile and desktop, according to caniuse.com) it's no wonder that most websites don't use "navigator.languages".

adorable? no it said you're a door bell: you make noises when booped

I don't know a LOT about farming, but I was sure I knew where eggs come from.

@cfr34k idea: mathematical evaluation of passwords

Password1234
"password must contain a special character!"

Password!1234
"password is too short!"

Password1234!
"password is too long!"

Password12!
⇒Password479001600
"password set!"

@kathakatze

> Password123!*e^i0.25π

"password is too complex"

"Please rotate your password!"

*sigh*

> assword123!P

"no, not like that, that's shifting!"

> Password123!*e^i2π

"your new password cannot be identical to your old one"

> Password123!*e^iπ

"password updated successfully"

Reminder: forced password rotation is a bad thing and must be avoided.

Because all the characters will slide towards one side, the resulting distribution will not be random, but very skewed.
