"Margaret Hamilton In Her Own Words"

"Editor's Note (October 2026): Margaret Hamilton died on September 30, 2026 in Cambridge Massachusetts. She was 90 years old. The post below was originally published in 2022 and is preserved in its original form. Drawing on her oral history with the Computer History Museum, it offers the opportunity to hear Hamilton tell elements of her own story in her own words."

I'm so old that I remember when Cuba was more aligned with Russia than the USA's President.

Some while ago, I had looked at Stanford University's MBA program.

When I saw them advertising their rogues gallery of graduates, I decided that I prefer not to be associated with them.

"No matter how much they try to erase us, our food is here to stay," he said. "You will see the power of just good food and the fact that most people really seem to understand that this is just as American as anything else."

The USA's motto used to be "E pluribus unum", meaning "from many, one".

I think we should restore it, and forget "In God we trust".

Dark...

I'm old enough to remember when Google built its brand by providing access to information that was thought by most users to be reliable, based on the number of links pointing to each page (project "backrub").

With this, and seeing obvious poor paid advertising on Google Maps for services that I will never use, such as countless entries for "best Indian astrologer", I look forward to watching Google burn itself to the ground.
