This really sucks. @AbandonedAmerica has done amazing work for years. Read the thread for more details.

Article headline: How bad is another case of Covid?

Subhead: Repeated infections are “a fact of life” at this point, experts say. But they warn there is no such thing as a risk-free case.

Ugh. Not a fact of life for the few of us who are still masking, not eating inside at restaurants, etc.

The Indivisible group one city up from me on the California coast just joined the Fediverse! Welcome, Indivisible El Granada!

I’m delighted to learn you can still buy an HP 12C calculator, the one I use all the time. As a long-time HP employee, back many years ago, I’m hooked on RPN calculators. I’m part of the “diehard fanbase” that @hackaday wrote about yesterday. I even have a 12C emulator on my iPhone, because using a “normal” calculator just confuses me.

To quote that piece: “People who like RPN tend to really like RPN.”

Today feels like a marigold day.

So we have something interesting on the ballot for my county.
https://www.greenbelt.org/blog/vote-yes-measure-l-sanmateo/

San Mateo County voters have a chance to do something few counties in California have done: write climate resilience directly into their charter.

Measure L would amend the preamble of the San Mateo County Charter to designate long-term resilience to extreme weather events, including fire, flood, wind, rain, heat, drought, and sea level rise, as a County priority.

Most climate resilience commitments live in strategic plans, resolutions, or budget line items. Those tools matter, but they can be rewritten or quietly dropped by a future board with different priorities. A charter is different. It’s the County’s foundational governing document, the one that outlives every single Board of Supervisors, budget cycle, or election.

Since it's Pumpkin Festival weekend here in Half Moon Bay, California, how about some pumpkins from a local pumpkin farm? Photo taken yesterday before the crowds and their cars hit town today.

It's another #Caturday, so here's Tennessee giving me a look.

@ai6yr Around here a Tesla just hit a deer.

No farmers market today because it's Pumpkin Festival weekend. But I have plenty of flower photos from prior weeks.

How about some sunflowers?
