Cooler pattern w weak upper trough meant ❄️ in W-Fork Canyon. Dry in town, wrly flow. Hiked 9K up from 2400m trailhead, made 2690m Quinnebaugh Meadows. -3C strong winds at times only 2-3cm new, could have gone much further, toward Sundance's Pass. But that wind... No Ursine or Moose friends today, but did run into some others on return 👍🏽. Overall we are going to remain in dry pattern next few weeks, not good. There was more snow in here 2 weeks ago. #climate #hiking #dogs #montana #mountains

Hi all - I need some technical advice. I know of a Sierra Leonean woman who has just completed her Masters in computing in the UK and would like to turn her student visa into a work visa.

I need some help understanding the steps…

Please boost for reach. Thanks

Good morning 😊

40% of all energy use is Norway is for fossil fuel extraction

+ We are failing to build new power production even as data centre projections keep climbing up and up

+ On track to miss climate goals so we'll make up for it w/ EU offsets

And here's my doggie of the day. I walk past this wall every time I head to Boudha, and have been wanting to capture an image with it. Today I got my chance, with this good boy posing in the sun for me.

Did you know that Samuel Pepys (1633-1703) was an early Fedivista? Credit must go, of course, to John Mastodon, who in mid-17th century England developed a remarkably efficient Fedi instance, piggy-backing the newly formed postal services in England.

Members of the instance wrote their messages on slips of paper and added #hashtags to the outer envelope, indicating the subject matter. These were transported along with regular mail, and at selected stations other members would take out messages that were of interest to them, based on the hashtags. Once read, the messages were returned into circulation, with the reader's replies added to the envelope.

All of Samuel Pepys's diary entries originated as such toots. Sam wrote the toot, then copied it into his diary, then handed the original slip to John Mastodon, who fed it into the network. Sadly all of the reply slips are lost.

Proper winter conditions up on Lochnagar this morning. Snow from around 900m after the weekend storms and icy underfoot #CairngormsNP #Scotland

Hello Mastodon! I'm pretty new here, so here's a little about me: I'm publishing a fantasy novel next year, I love art and nature, and I love birds. I have two African ravens that keep me company: Hugin with his beautiful smokey chest, and Munin in all her sleek black awesomeness. I'll be posting more about my writing, art, and birds. #birds #art #writing #fiction #books #nature #ravens #munin #hugin #artists #introduction #hello

Fog is incredible, but it is not the only condition worth heading to the woods for. Mist is far more common at this time of year, and a misty morning can create dramatic light. Rain is often my favourite. And a flat, overcast morning gives you steady light the whole day through. There is no need to wait only for fog.

First day back at work after school holidays and I remembered by login at first attempt, so we're off to a minor good start at least.
