I think my time at my current role is coming to an end as I'm finding it difficult to make a difference as my organisation increasingly pushes LLMs.
I've been in web application development since I left uni nearly 20 years ago. I have strong PHP skills, decent Javascript, React, HTML, and CSS skills, and have a bunch of experience with CI, testing, infrastructure, cloud, and managing VMs and containers in AWS and elsewhere.
I've been managing increasingly large teams (now 20) over the last 10 years and have been consistently praised by both my team and management for how I run my particular corner of the world. My philosophy is leading from the front and that if I'm not willing to jump in and do it, it's not worth doing.
While managing and growing my team, I've also provided software architecture support to help turn my current company from an "also ran" in their space to a world leader, and helped turn a fossilised PHP app running on a low-end VM into a reliable and scalable React app.
Before this I've written software for finance, management consulting and real estate; and spent some time as a QA. My team at my previous employer had a reputation for writing code that "didn't come back".
I'm strongly anti-AI for a lot of reasons including the giant datacentre just down the road from me.
I'm happy to work anywhere in western Melbourne or Geelong, and am looking for hybrid work with at least 2 days a week at home.
Are you looking for someone like me? If so, send me a PD and we'll talk!
