So, how do I do AI poisoning for programming languages? #help #question #AI

You know how you work so hard to get attention, attract followers, gain subscribers? There is a finite amount of attention in the world. Thus, the harder you work to get it, the harder you're making it for other people to get it. You have been born into a dystopia where everyone is working hard at it, making it so, so much harder than it needs to be, and nobody's getting any more attention no matter how they work. Because there is a finite amount of attention in the world. Welcome to the meat grinder. Gain influence, or die.

So apparently some guy named Mike Johnson told the US Senate that they can't come to work for the next 3 months straight, conveniently after the midterm election is done. They were about to fire Pete from ruling over the Pentagon, but then Mike stepped up and said, "Nope! No one can work anymore!"

And the response of every US senator, including the one you elected, was "OK Mr. Johnson. Have a lovely day!" And then they all meekly shuffled out of the Capitol Building to enjoy their three month paid vacation.

It's funny there's this Minecraft mod called "Minecolonies" where you hire villagers to perform jobs, like build buildings, chop trees, craft certain blocks, even fish. What I find most interesting about it is that the most efficient way to build your village is to construct each villager's house right next to where they work.

But no one. No one ever does.

Everyone always decides "where the houses are going to be" because you, and I, and everyone under the influence of Western Civilization has lived our entire lives with zoning laws. These laws supposedly are there to prevent people from getting hurt, or poisoned, by a horrible manufacturing plant next to their house, but the purpose of a law is what it does. Cottage industry had to be forcibly destroyed, with sweet words to give them excuses for it, otherwise everyone would have a side hustle operating a business out of their garage. To trap everyone in employment only for big business, they had to convince us to stop working where we lived. That is nearly the entire function of zoning laws, because when big business wants to build next to your house, your neighborhood becomes commercial zoning, and now you're the bad guy. The laws don't stop what the ones creating them claimed they would stop, and instead make people more pliable, helpless servants.

Or, that's as close as I can figure. Buying commercially zoned real estate (hugely more expensive) is the biggest barrier to starting a business. You can't even buy it anymore, as you can see by every closed business with a "For Lease" sign. "For Lease" means some noble owns the land, and you only do business on it with their permission, for a hefty rent of course. So almost nobody owns a brick and mortar store these days, and the Internet obviously hasn't helped with that.

So this bizarre social manipulation means we don't even realize that zoning is bullshit. It's all we've ever known. We never think of doing anything differently. So when you're playing a game like Minecolonies or Timberborn, you naively create residential zones, and then sit there staring stupidly at your colony, wondering why everyone is wasting so much time pathing around. You made your workers into commuters!

It seems sad to me, when people build villages in those sandbox building games. People don't build villages together, I mean. One person, playing by themselves, builds a village. All the buildings are just empty and unused, but they still wanted to build them, for people who would never arrive.

That's what puts me off of public servers really, is they're always full of these grand, gigantic building projects whose builder moved on a long time ago, and they just sit there under area protection forever.

Man, I closed the door to the computer room overnight, and when I opened it, everything smelled like fungus. Just like my bedroom. There's no moisture in here, no obvious growths anywhere, no stains or anything. How do I reduce the amount of mold here?

I love how when you use a privileged addon with all the privileges to fetch a document, Cloudflare still returns a 403 forbidden, because the fascists running Mozilla added code to prevent anyone from changing a "Sec-Fetch-Dest" header, on the argument that "Sec-" means secure so it needs to be forbidden to makeCloudflareyou more better secure.

Overly descriptive alt-text is very helpful to AI harvesting and image analysis, but not so much to blind people. Which alt-text comes closer to conveying to blind people, what sighted people get out of this picture?

1. A floating golden ring in the air with a second white ring below it, orthogonal to the first. There several faces on the second ring, all with green eyes and an occasional bit of hair divided into two curly locks: pink and lavender. One of the faces is stating "Be not afraid!" Beneath the second ring, a small orange pony with one small wing, purple eyes and reddish purple hair is standing on a green landscape with two small hills. The pony is sweating nervously, wearing white socks, and a white harness on her body which holds a third ring above her head. The letters "@HeshieokF" are inscribed in the lower right.

Death Clock, a game where people bet on when someone's going to die. The bets are placed in a pool, and distributed according to a bell curve centered on their actual time of death. If you're closer than half of the players, you make money on the bet. If you're farther, you lose money.

Does anyone know that poem of the guy in some fascist dystopia, where the government took his family in for "questioning" one by one and he always held out hope, then when he had nothing left, they took his cat and it broke him?

It was an amazing poem and I can't find it again. Been looking for decades.

Difference between a General Strike and a Revolution, is that the former is forcing the government to make things passably less worse, but not any better. The government will murder you for either one though.

There are some people, there are some bigoted, murderous, cruel, sadistic people out there, who wholehearted pursue the suffering of their victims. Now consider how many of those people there are, versus the amount of people who get fooled into going along with their plans. How many people out there are forced to go along with it, because of financial obligation? How many are just trying to better their lives, and they believed the promises of the first group of people because they never saw any other way out? How many aren't helping them at all, and are just afraid that they'll be the next victims?

So when you get frustrated at a demographic, even an oppressive majority, remember that most of them are decent people. You don't have to stop all those people and beat them down until their life fades from their eyes. All you have to do is give them the means, knowledge, support, and confidence it takes to break free of their obligations, and they'll be right there alongside you.

When you reject your potential allies because they're grouped in with the few of us who know exactly what we're doing and love seeing babies dash upon the rocks, that really keeps you helpless to stop the baby smashers.

I'm very peeved that GTK has been strongarming the use of librsvg. Because some rust afficionados rewrote librsvg in rust, and so anything using librsvg now has to depend on rust. And LVM. And rust is bootstrapped. And LVM is bootstrapped. So now you have triple the bootstrapping, for your security breach needs.

GTK doesn't actually use rust. They don't even use librsvg. The requirement is only because the default GTK theme uses SVG icons, and the SVG to PNG tool they use in the build process uses librsvg.

Like, you can't even opt for a different theme that already has the .pngs. GTK just tells you "There ain't no librsvg so I ain't compiling. Isn't meson great?"

Yeesh... ICE just death camped that nice elderly man who lives about a block away from me. I only ever saw him mowing his lawn, but he always had a smile for people passing by.

Still don't know the hash tags for reporting death camping.

Ducks lay about 12 eggs a year. In a stable ecosystem therefore, 10 out of every 12 ducks die before they get a chance to lay eggs. That's less than half a year, around 4-5 months. So 83% of all ducks die every 5 months. #nature
