Yet Alberta's UCP is welcoming these data centres to drink our water, eat up our agricultural land, raise our electricity rates, and poison our air...
And speaking of, we want to thank Bungie for their donations of some absolutely amazing pieces over the years. Without their help we wouldn't get some of the best pushes near the end of the run, and we always appreciate their goodies.
How’s that new Canadian government investment in Canadian AI doing? Lol

19 years ago, @LoadingReadyRun embarked on a journey in the digital desert, raising money for Child's Play Charity. And now, 20 marathons deep, they continue to help make this bus run! We wouldn't be where we are without them, and we look forward to many more years together.
Hey @desertbus in the Times Colonist! They’re approaching $US1.3 Million this run this year!
20th year going strong and will wrap up the seven 24hr days today!
I didn’t know until today that #PatrickStewart was an outspoken advocate against #ViolenceAgainstWomen (for his mom) and also for supports for veterans (for his dad).
But it fits.
The blog below has a couple nice videos of him speaking about it. It feels nice to have that common activism with him.
I’ll make this my last post on him.
Men, we have the power in our hands to stop violence against women and children.

This is a first. I ordered door hardware for the greenhouse. Best price, even with $10 tariff was from a US supplier. It got delayed.
The tracking said it made it to customs in Richmond.
Seems it never made it past that point. Now marked “undeliverable” and refunded.
I can only assume it has something to do with the trade war. Oh well, will try harder to find a Canadian or Int. seller this time!

Don Davies on BSky:
“Shame! Liberals voted against the NDP bill to protect the right to strike. Even so-called “progressive” Liberals fell in line. The Carney government continues to put the interests of foreign investors over the rights of workers.”
ok fellow #StarTrek nerds. ❤️

formal or informal costume to work today!?

@chris I saw his Christmas Carol one-man show at Caltech many years ago. Got to meet him briefly there. Such a brilliant performer.
Amusing side point: AP's own search does not find this article anymore. I had to dig back to my post because I could not find it via their site.

@chris Moitherfucker should mail us all a new GPU if he wants to help
@chris the Canadian Government should not be spending our taxes on stock market gambles. They should be using it to actually solve the problems facing Canadians.
"Evan Solomon is terrible."
Corrected that for you.
Summary from Wikipedia
[ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Solomon ]:
On June 9, 2015, Solomon was fired from CBC after the Toronto Star reported that he allegedly took secret commissions for brokering art sales of items owned by his friend and art collector Bruce Bailey to people he was connected to through his CBC position, including Mark Carney.

a little concerned to see news from Spain that the Supreme Court has suspended voting rights of citizens (like me and my children) who obtained citizenship through their spanish born parents and grandparents.
It is extremely unusual for a citizen not to have the right to vote in general. It goes against Spain's constitution.
Of course this question to the Court was put forward by Vox, the far right conservative party.
it will have to be resolved before the elections. It would be unprecedented in Europe in post war, post Franco, times for a class of citizens to be excluded from voting.
Either they restore the right by clarifying the law, or they strip us of our citizenship completely.
I just can't imagine there would be wide domestic political support for disenfranchising millions of people who have clearly declared their intention and desire to be reconnected with Spain.
our family has built a lot of future plans around our spanish and EU citizenship. A change like this would be deeply disappointing.

I'm not normally one to comment on celebrity deaths, but...god damn. I had been fearing this day for a long time. Patrick Stewart was, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest actors of all time, if not the greatest. No matter what role he played, he always nailed it.
I was honestly just hoping he would be around forever.
I have a lot of star trek to watch this weekend and the weeks to come, it’s going to be great…. But I am most excited for the plan I have for tomorrow.
And yet, I have only seen his pop culture stuff, #StarTrek and #XMen… and Excalibur…
If anyone has a stream of his performances of Shakespeare, I would love to see it.
Rest in Peace Sir Patrick Stewart.
So many gifts you gave us all.
Between Patrick Stewart's death and AO3 going down, idk if the people of the Fedi will survive this week.
