IndiaFOSS attendees, do you have any JioPhones or other KaiOS feature phones lying around unused? Bring them to the XMPP stall and let's see if we can make them fun again 😄

Imagine if I could type all these random posts from my phone instead of having to be at the computer! Maybe I should make a #KaiOS app for the #Fediverse someday... :mastolaughing:

Hey I'm using the same icon pack on the website as I recently started using on the app itself. What a coincidence!

I say "coincidence" because I thought I'd only discovered the icon pack for the first time recently when I added it to the app. Turns out my past self had already discovered it a year ago when making the website 😮

I've also raised a merge request to update the metadata on #BananaHackers (once and for all!) but don't worry, I've set up redirects in the meantime so even though the file name is 0.2.0 you will in fact be downloading 1.0.0

The update replaces the hardcoded version number in the download file name with "latest" so I can update that to redirect to the latest version without having to go through the whole MR routine each time (as I should've done to start with)

You can find all the latest screenshots here (or in the "screenshots" folder of the repo, but here is quicker)

Convo 1.0.0 is out!

[Insert celebratory noises and screenshots which I don't have the energy to add at the moment because I spent the whole day preparing this release but feel free to do it in my stead!]

Conference registration is over at https://conf.prav.app btw

Preparing a goodie bag for the upcoming #PravConf2026! I finished the design yesterday and @athulvis and @libreinator went to Sanchi Bags to get it printed

Apart from stickers and a small batch of t-shirts, this is the first time we're getting to see @prav merch and I'm looking forward to it 😋

Oh, by the way, does the way those pigeon trails line up look familiar? 😉

(The image is a mockup; I superimposed the Inkscape design onto a photo provided by Sanchi Bags)

#XMPP

Big Tech companies have made social media addictive, but instead of banning those companies they've decided to ban children instead smh

Does Mastodon (or any compatible web frontend) have a way to search "posts I starred, boosted, or replied to"?

Are you affected by #Telegram being (temporarily) banned in #India for a reason so ridiculous it isn't even wrong?

Maybe now's a good time to try out a #decentralised messaging network like #XMPP! It's easy to get started with @prav and the more inclined can dig deeper for more customisable options :masto_angel:

What should we call all the #RSS and #Atom powered blogs, websites, social feeds, announcements, broadcasts, podcasts, alerts, updates, summaries, and other kinds of updates?

Putting the final touches on my slides in preparation for tomorrow's talk at #ChennaiFOSS2026 but my computer's already gone into bedtime mode

Why did nobody think of the "boost comment" format where the post shows up in your followers' feeds, as usual, but with your comment attached right under it?

Besides that it can continue to act as a normal comment, showing up in the replies and so on (unlike a "quote post" which is its own separate thing with its own separate set of replies) so we can use it without having to compartmentalise the conversation

Is there like a good resource on GUI programming, by which I mean not "how to use the latest framework which is running in electron btw" but actual fundamentals on the theory behind graphical user interfaces and flows and how it all works?

Can we stop calling the Venezuelan leader "authoritarian" and a "dictator"

It's clear which country is harbouring the authoritarian dictator here

Your daily reminder that #Israel and the #USA are continuing to commit #genocide
