Cursed

I really *really* want to do a similar scale battletech model. Weathering, scenic base and the like.

Work in progress on another project.

1/35 scale tamiya KV1.

I’d do this more if I had somewhere to put them.

Things I’m noticing:

- Spotlight / Siri is much faster at basic stuff when it’s not using Apple Intelligence.
- 60hz screen is fine actually
- this little phone gets way warmer doing basic stuff than I remember.
- it weighs nothing compared to the regular iPhone size
- I do kinda miss the better camera quality.

For the last nine or so months I’ve been running the iPhone 17 (pleb edition) after the OIS motor in my 12 mini’s camera died for the second time.

I came to a realisation the other day that the only reason I was using the 17 was because I’d spent money on it. It’s big, heavy, hard to reach its corners.

Last year I broke my pinky on my right hand, and have had minor ongoing aches from time to time… because of the 17.

Got my 12 mini repaired and man. It’s really nice to go back to.

At some point Jurgen stopped feeling the cold, stopped feeling hunger, or anything really.

I started off by looking into local LLM's, local agentic setups, learning (as well as I can understand) exactly how these slop-machines work, what makes them tick, why stuff like token costs are important etc.

Step number one of any battle is to know your enemy.

This won't come as news to anyone who's technical but I got an analogy. Its a (weighted) dice roll between millions of options for each word choice. Literally just weighted randomisation of language into a shape

Proper nervous talking about this as I’m well aware of the attitude here, but I’ve been toying with AI over the past two or so months.

I’ve spent most of my career working in digital agencies, building games and apps for edutainment / health stuff / govt stuff, and my colleagues who work in that space have all been pushed over to the slop-machines. Pressure from clients to do more for less is *exists* and I’m terrified of losing my income.

So I started looking into it.

Anyone else struggle when it comes to posting stuff online? I really want to post here more frequently, but I often find myself thinking half way through writing something out that it’s not worth saying? Or that it wouldn’t help anyone?

Did a commission job for 37 Beastmen Gor. One 30 minute experiment paint job on Tuesday, followed by about six hours of batch painting yesterday and today. Really happy with the quality vs speed tradeoff with these guys.

lol that gif got mega-crunched. *shrug* #iosdev #godotengine #indiedev

Bugger it! It's never too early.

The game is (tentatively) called Behemoth. It's a sort-of-spiritual-successor to my 2016 title Unstoppable.

I've been working on this for about four or so months now. Mostly just getting the core pieces together.

Another mobile title about upgradeable vehicular carnage, because for some reason I love making these.

Graphics here are 100% placeholder, mostly ripped from Unstoppable or just plain old cubes.

Very exciting times! I’m working on another game.

Too early to show anything of note off yet, but it feels damn good to be back behind the wheel after Exo flopped.

Didn’t someone have something to say about the definition of insanity?

I’m more than a little bit proud of my 6yo’s painting progress.

A treaty from Grand Cathay happens upon a Tilean mercenary band at the entrance to the old farmhouse.

Mostly just an excuse to show off some freshly painted vegetable terrain pieces #warhammertheoldworld #miniaturepainting #3dprint

It’s been wild to see how much quality I can get out of my relatively cheap bambulab a1 mini. These rats are probably the best so far.

The moment I saw this model for a crowman in the Cathay box I knew how I was gonna paint it up.

Growing up we had a Magpie that would fly down, and walk right up to our back door. It’d do this beautiful warble and we’d feed it some sausage.

So here’s my little tribute to “Jack-o” the Magpie.

To be clear / context:

- I'm aware being a young girl / woman online has been hell since basically the start of the internet. From what I can see algorithmic feeds are just an acceleration of that.
- There's zero excuse for mens behaviour.
- Screw the companies that decide this is how we should treat people.
- Companies in general can go to hell.

I suspect like many people here I jumped ship from the mainline social media companies a couple years back, partially because I could see that these algorithmic feed was serving me rubbish I didn't want to see.

I'm a dad to two girls, neither has started their time online yet and seeing this sort of crap, I honestly would rather they never did.

Is there a kid friendly mastodon server? Thats probably gonna be just "we've got tiktok at home".

man, this blows.

Been playing with a DSLR I borrowed. Its an older model but it checks out (way better than my phone lol)
