250 years later, most Americans can't be bothered do the minimum required to participate in the democracy so many died enact. I expect I'm preaching to the choir here. One of the ?downsides? of no algorithm is we curate our own bubbles. But I'm going to remind folks anyway. Get out there and vote. If your state does early/extended voting take advantage of it. Encourage those around you to do the same.

I live in a part of the US where there the revolution started. I've walked countless times past the marker on Massachusetts Avenue where Samuel Whittemore, 80 years old, went out to meet the British on his own. I've walked Battle Road many times and seen the "Near here British Soldiers are buried" markers. I've visited the Lexington Green and Old North Bridge. Real people fought and died here for the right to self govern.

If you're a Google Fi customer or on a phone call with one, be aware that your conversation may be processed on Google's servers. That bears repeating, YOUR AUDIO is processed on THEIR SERVERS. If you're a Fi customer you can and probably should turn this off. See https://support.google.com/fi/answer/16612356
I couldn't find anything in their privacy policy that states they do NOT retain or share those calls or which humans may be given access to them.
My mother took up knitting several years ago. She's met some great folks and it's part of her social life now. She always has a couple of projects going.
Today, I got a wonderful surprise when this showed up in the mail. The photo doesn't convey how vibrant the colors are or how warm and comfortable it is. I know how much effort, love, and care went into making this, which makes it all the more special. Looking forward to having it keep me warm this winter.

Loving GrapheneOS on my Pixel 8. No real desire to replace it and I know it will be supported for a while longer.
Having said that, other than the obvious issue that the Pixel 11 Pro isn't supported yet, any thoughts on why I might want to purchase newer hardware? The promotion right now isn't a bad deal.
So, neighborhood stray cat has been leaving half rodents on the driveway. I'm not sure if that means she's full, it's an offering or a warning.
Spent a good part of today talking to a random cat that kept stopping by looking for attention. I'm sure I looked insane but honestly I think that put me into a better headspace this afternoon.
On the upside I think my neighbors think I'm the crazy guy on the street anyway, so no big deal.

It appears ICE is unhappy with people knowing that Jonathan Ross has been identified as the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Good. They tried to bully an election worker for sharing Jonathan Ross's name. Again, that name was Jonathan Ross.
Look, I get it. You're fascists and therefore bullies. It shouldn't be too tough for you to figure out who I really am. Feel free to drop by anytime and try to intimidate me. I could use the laugh.

Another one for the radio geeks. Sure, the view across the river is beautiful, but there are antennas on the side.

I'm very fortunate to live where I do. Stopped working a little early today. Took a walk to one of my locals I met my SO for dinner. Afterwards, a nice walk down to the Charles River.
I hope life is good for you folks as well. Find your community. Look out for each other. It's how we all get there.

Is it just me or are other people turned off by open source projects that promote their language choice as a reason you should use their tool?
Hey, I think it's great that you're using the latest, trendy language to implement FUBAR. But unless I want or need to modify your code it shouldn't matter what language you wrote it in. The fact that you think it does makes me question your other engineering choices.

Does anyone have any experience with these cheap, in both price and quality, extendable flag poles as antenna masts? There are 20 and 25 footers for less than $60 USD. I'm in the city, but have 50 feet across the back of my lot. I'm thinking one of these in each corner with an end fed wire strung between them.
This is a kludge and I wouldn't expect it to survive more than a year but it would get me on the air.
Thoughts?

It was getting late yesterday and I was doing a 'net search to solve a tech problem. I couldn't find anything useful, page after page of useless results. I couldn't understand what was going on. And then I realized I was still using a test browser which defaulted to Google for search. :picardfacepalm: Hopped back to my primary browser with Kagi. Difference was night and day.
I don't know how people get anything done without a decent search engine and an ad blocker in place.
Tired of AI agents that aren't actually intelligent causing you pain? Have you just lost data or IP because your AI assistant screwed up?
I have a solution for you. I'm an actual human who understands the underlying technology. Just grant me full access to your code base, infrastructure and systems.
What? You don't trust me? Why not!?
You'll hand all that over to sparkling auto-carrot but not some rando on the net? Give that one some thought.
Another great but long day. Rifle 102 at Sig Sauer in New Hampshire. Training there is fantastic. Great facility with great instructors.
Teaching is a lot more than just knowing your subject. It's being able to convey those skills to different learning styles. It's also understanding how your students are doing holistically and being able to adjust to give them what they need when they need it. It's not an easy task and these folks nail it, consistently.
Oh joy. Google disables spell check in gmail if you opt out of letting them use your email to feed their AI. It's pretty clear many of the features they disable don't require their AI to work, e.g. category tabs. They're just intentionally making the product worse for those who don't comply.
It's their product, they can do as they like. But violating the Wheaton rule eventually loses customers.
Pull up your favorite street map tool preferably one with a street view feature. Look up Carlisle Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It's a short one-way street with parked cars on each side, so quite narrow. Now, please explain to me how someone managed to flip a car about halfway down the street.

Opened the shades this morning and saw snow. WTaF?
May your morning be less "jarring in a totally innocuous way".
