Every study shows that decarbonising and *doing the things we legally agreed to do but needed Insulate Britain to remind us about* are cheaper for everyone and bring bills down. Cutting “The Green Crap” has only ever put bills *up* short term and long term. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/oct/18/heat-pumps-insulation-warm-homes-plan-beat-new-oilfields-cutting-uk-cost-of-living-study
I’ve been looking to ditch Sendgrid for a while, and whilst Mailchimp seemed like the move (good delivery, already using it for campaigns) having first class Laravel Cloud integration and hopefully single billing means Resend might be the move for Protect Earth. Is it? Never heard of them tbh. https://resend.com/laravel-cloud
Time for a game of: What Animal Shat on my Bench?
Why waste money keeping expensive gas plants idling ready to fill short gaps in renewable supply when batteries are now cheaper. https://www.woodmac.com/press-releases/four-hour-battery-storage-now-beats-gas-peaking-on-cost-globally/
My charity Protect Earth removes invasive species every year. The UK economy spends £4 billion a year doing the same, and yet plants such as cherry laurel can still be sold in garden centres to create quick-growing hedges.
Cherry laurel is easily spread by birds eating the berries. It forms dense clumps in woodlands and release cyanide, preventing other species from growing, harming soil and water courses.
We'd like to see it banned.

The right only ever discuss costs.
No concept of investment, returns, savings, second/third order effects, only cost.
And they can’t even get cost right. 🤣 https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/oct/09/tories-overstate-net-zero-cost-500bn-spreadsheet-error
You legends have got us about £3k in extra funds this morning.
It really helps me pay the team who are working hard to solve these funding shortfalls. We have plans we just need lifeline.
I just launched grassland restoration sponsorship too. Anyone care to test it for me?

Three of you have chucked in £50 and I bloody love you for it.
I cancelled all my plans this morning after an email from our treasurer. It’s full on alarm bells ringing time.
I got medium term and long term plans to fix cashflow cashflow/funding issue but the short term is entirely in your hands. I got nothing to sell and no salary to sacrifice.
Sponsor some wetland squares in Warleigh Nature Reserve. Get a bunch and I’ll give you a tour!
Donations are down. Costs are up. Protect Earth is operating at a growing monthly deficit which used to be annually resolved by our funding partners who have mostly vanished due to market changes.
We need £5k ASAP just to pay a few invoices and stave off the worst until some bigger money can wind its way in. Looking for a miracle here.

Just saw someone zoom by on a Solar powered recumbent e-bike, clearly homemade. I barely got a photo before he was away. Just commuting to work in Chippenham I think? Legend.
My new best friend is absolutely adorable. I am so excited to be setting him up with a brand new wetland where his whole family can thrive.

Chinese emissions are falling due to reducing their oil use. Part of this was a 7% drop in aviation, with high-speed rail replacing domestic flights.
The very clever environmental campaigners in the UK said that would never happen here based on made up numbers.

GOOD NEWS: Bristol has become the first British city to impose a ban on the advertising of fossil fuels, airlines, cruises, fast fashion, and SUVs, on council-owned advertising space, including billboards, bus stop shelters, print and online. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/sep/15/bristol-first-uk-city-to-ban-fast-fashion-adverts
Stop faffing about and get this petition off to the moon, so we can get Palantir off into the sea. It’s only got 50 signatures in 24 hours, and I know there’s more than 50 Brits seeing this. 👋 https://www.amnesty.org.uk/get-involved/take-action/sign-a-petition/tell-the-health-secretary-no-palantir-in-our-nhs/
That said constantly handing over more power to the pedophile technofascists at Palantir isn’t going to help humanity all that much.
Fascist International have more chance of destroying humanity undermining democracy than their Slop Bots going SkyNet.
We should fight to get Palantir out of the NHS as soon as possible, and this petition would be a good start.
AI isn’t capable of destroying humanity itself, but the rush to concrete over countless ecosystems and squeeze every last drop of fresh water out of them will absolutely speed up the existing existential climate and biodiversity crises that WILL.
Not to mention the wars that will start fighting over resources and slop-based disinformation.

With 1Password actively funding DHH and his fashtech and fascists in tech accelerator, which password manager are you switching to? Protect Earth will need help moving as we are an anti-fascist organisation.
UK and US testing grounds for each other. Over in Jackson, Mississippi the city knowingly let residents drink lead-contaminated water. Told them to boil water which concentrates the lead. Officials blame residents for expecting clean drinking water or the truth. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2026/09/drinking-water-mississippi-lawsuit/
