World Sight Day is October 8. Preventing preventable blindness matters, full stop. But not all blindness is preventable. I've been blind since birth; no screening changes that. So while we fund eye care, fund the other stuff too: access, training, employment, the things that make blind lives good right now. Prevention and equality aren't competing causes.
