Continuing to expand my power instrumentation, beginning to plumb into the APIs on my solar gateway.

My lab power consumption is extremely stable throughout the day. The house, on the other hand, not so much. Massive spikes from the main house heat pump running then stopping. The max in my current dataset is 71.5A which on a 2-phase 120/240V system is about 17.2 kW.

I wonder how much more efficiency I would see if I switched to variable speed mini-splits or something. (this is independent of the gains I hope to see from lab energy harvesting)

Graph of per-phase current vs time sitting around 20A but with spikes to 30A ish whenever the heat pump kicks in, with a spike to nearly 70A in the middle of the night (resistive heat maybe?)
