We've lived for so long with this mythology that sure, the wealthy can be cruel. But at least the cruelty has a point. Profit!
I'd like us to open our hearts to other possibilities.
Power doesn't just corrupt! It can also breed truly reality-distorting levels of incompetence.
(Anyway, this farmer is currently running for office, and she barely won last time.)

The thing about Nepo babies is they live in a world which F Scott Fitzgerald describes so well in the great Gatsby.
Their lives are solved by smothering things and money either to get what they want or to make problems go away.
@sarahtaber the slave powers are alwaya heavily into debt. Slavery and Debt are the same system
@lnsy_dev Yeah my husband is a historian who specializes on the family finances of people who owned slaves in the Caribbean. And how enslaved people did their best to form families despite it all & work their way out of it.

One little point in this interesting and insightful story especially caught my attention:

In my experience, that's true, but underappreciated by city folk. If a guy in bib overalls and no shirt, in an unpaved used-car lot surrounded by woods, tells you "I'm just an old country boy and don't know nuthin 'bout motors, but I'd let this purty thing go for just ___ dollars", run away!

I certainly hope if more people know exactly the character of this lady or the family that they would be eased out out of any public office
