Upgrading from PostgreSQL v17 to v18. 🚀 Using the pg_upgradecluster command if you want to know.
Just be sure you have enough RAM memory & storage left during such an upgrade. If needed increase your huge pages numbers (in case you enabled huge pages). 🤞 #postgresql #postgresql18 #upgrade #server

Everything went well..!
1. First drop the new cluster (in case it already started maybe?): pg_dropcluster 18 main --stop
2. Perform the actual upgrade: pg_upgradecluster -j 12 17 main /media/data/postgresql/18/main
With the options explained:
- -j 12 means 12 jobs in parallel
- 17 is the OLD version of postgres
- main is the main clustername
- Finally the new DB storage location (optional). Default is /var/lib/pgsql/data
