OMG I'm so glad that #Uruky search now has tags (what #Kagi and #DDG call snaps).
I've been daily driving Uruky for several months now and it was def one of my nr 1 things that was missing.

So for example you can do:
cyclehighway belgium @wosm
which then does a site: search on the osm wiki for that

Honestly the last couple months have been amazing in what they've added https://uruky.com/whats-new

It's been 0 days since i've had to explain to someone the multiple steps required to print 'fit to page' or 'fit to page width' a spreadsheet in #LibreOffice Calc....
It shouldn't be this difficult....
In Google Docs, it even auto does it and it's just a dropdown on the print preview screen.

Guess #HomeAssistant foundation doesn't seem like donating to #OpenStreetMap https://community.home-assistant.io/t/donate-to-openstreetmap/1023728/ (possible that higher ups at HA haven't seen it yet, but no way to know)

Don't forget to vote on this proposal! #OpenStreetMap

Butter is just thermal paste for food.
Send toot.

I noticed that @homeassistant was using Carto for it's #OpenStreetMap tiles but since Carto now switched to using API keys, #HomeAssistant decided to switch to using the official OSM tile service. Obv they are respecting the Tile Usage Policy as explained on https://operations.osmfoundation.org/policies/tiles/ which is good!
But considering there's so many HA installations, I think it would be nice if Home Assistant could donate to OSM for all the extra usage ngl.

Train entities of fedi, bestow me your wisdom. What are both of these things between the tracks? (Currently at RER A station) in France)

I put a stack of them at the OpenStreetMap Foundation table. If anyone else has suggestions on where to spread the flyer, lmk #SotM2026

I will be uploading the file to the wiki so other people can print it as well.

Gonna spread the gospel of Mastodon/Fediverse this weekend at #SotM2026!

All credit for designing these goes to @karafuto for designing these very last minute 💜💜

I was recently curious about something. #poll
Do you like self-checkout?

It's been 0 days since I've received an email from github about someone who wants me to assign them a gh issue for them to work on. I don't even have that permission....

Nobody has worked on this issue for over a year, just make a pr like how github is intended to work.... ffs

(this thread in question has like 3-4 people asking if they can be assigned to work on it. over this whole period...)

If you're going to @sotm , consider following the #Sotm2026 tag (you can do this in Mastodon and probably others) because that's what people will be posting with!

Making your presentation for this weekend for #Sotm2026 ?
Awesome, best of luck!

Thinking about including AI images/media? Please don't.

It's distracting and makes your whole presentation look cheap.

(also you might even have to include an ai label if you decide to use them (depending on how you read the law I think) https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/eu-icons-labelling-ai-generated-content
So just don't)

#Linux tip of the day:
pdfgrep, it's like grep... but for searching inside pdf's.

Which tbc: the whole thing that anti-wind people say about wind turbines about how it's a bird killing machine... is bs and is just fossil fuel propaganda. (they do kill some level of birds but incredible few compared to many other things)

BUT obv any birth deaths we can prevent by doing stuff like this is awesome and should be done more often!

I was at the hairdressers and various people were talking about stuff, including someone who was talking about how they help organize somebig event.
And they asked me if I have done anything like that. I responded with that I'm part of the team that organizes FOSDEM.
Which meant that I had to explain to them what FOSDEM is and the best way I figured I could do that is say that "it's like Tomorrowland, but for nerds".
