I say this as one who has voted 3rd party in the past and used to encourage others to do so. Until we have RCV, don’t let 3rd parties cannibalize your choice.
Everyone should petition their local officials to change to ranked choice voting. Now. This needs to happen before next elections.
The very close races we see are so tight because of other candidates on the ballots sucking away votes, and ranked choice would make it clear exactly what kind of government the voters want.

I didn’t realize Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello had taken The Postal Service in such an Orwellian direction.
The last 10 years have taught me not to doomscroll on election nights, and to be ready for either disappointing news or uncertainty the next day.
I tried to keep last night as normal as possible. Did some relaxation exercises.
Slept like a baby.
And damn, but this was one of the best mornings to wake up to in memory!
Will it matter? Time will tell. But it's still great to see folks come together at the polls to push back against power and corruption.
I’m in one of those wildly gerrymandered districts of Tennessee, where the GOP figured DesJarlais would be a shoo-in. #USPol
And in my congressional district, Broderick is only 280 votes ahead of DesJarlais, with the independent/third-party candidates sucking up any greater lead Broderick might have had. #USPol
Tennessee would probably have elected a Democratic governor if it weren’t for our first-past-the-post voting system. #USPol
Not planning to stay up for any election news. Finding out over the next few days is soon enough for me. I did my part, I'm friggin' tired, there is zero public or personal benefit to paying live attention to it, it's all stuff I'll know when the numbers are stable, which I'll have to live with all the same.
Because Weezer’s blue (1994) and gold (2026) albums share the same title, Apple Music has decided to combine them as the same album in my music library. 🤦♂️
Everyone who is able to vote today in the US, get out and vote!!! #USPol
@pluralistic What's particularly nefarious about a world without skilled professionals is that then it's helpless. It can't run without being dependent on those companies, and if the DRAM comment is anything it's a hint that's the point. They're trying to create a world were you can only access your "own" skill as a service detached from your person. Flood the market, kill the competition that isn't helpless yet, become the new monopoly over labour.
Type safety in PHP is an area where small improvements can make a big impact. It's not just about catching errors: it's about writing more predictable, reliable and maintainable code in the first place. By using strict types, clear returns and static analysis tools like PHPStan, Psalm, or Mago, you can catch potential issues earlier and spend less time debugging. Get in touch if the Roave team's expertise can help you navigate these challenges.
From Life magazine’s review of Frank J. Wilstach’s Dictionary of Similies, December 1916:
“Mr. Wilstach has been as industrious as a pack-rat, as keen eyed as a clipping bureau and as persistent as a cough in church. His work is as monumental as a mausoleum, and should prove as handy as an orphan asylum.”
