I'm making a chicken stew with these tonight. I've got some turnips that only really grew the leaves, so I'll put turnip greens in too.
But I am really happy about the carrots. I was making excitable noises while picking them.

This year's lessons - grow carrots in a deep box filled with fresh, fluffy, loamy soil with any sticks and stones removed.
Plant the carrots as soon as the soil is warm and there's no risk of frost. Don't plant them in lines, shake the seed over the soil and kind of brush them in with your fingers. Then cover with chicken wire so the birds dont eat them.
...then leave them in there all spring, summer, and autumn, and pick them at the end of October.
I am very obsessed with these guys tbh.

It's a guy in France who travels around with his dogs in a recumbent trike with a single occupant caravan trailer he made. He often travels with other folks doing the same.
This is currently my plan for when Tiny Person leaves home - build a bike caravan and travel for as long as I can.
The leaves are falling off the trees, so of course, it's time for my obsession with building a bike camper trailer to kick I to gear.
(Not that I have any of the skills required to build said trailer)
They're a bit softer than the summer ones, so I am likely going to use these for cooking and canning.
I'm actually beginning to prefer these ones for making sauces more than the Italian sauce tomato varieties, because they're a much more savoury taste, and each one of these beefsteaks are about the size of 2-4 san marzanos with fewer seeds. And they taste really good fresh from the garden.
Ha. If you know of any possible career shifts for a games art director/character artist, I would love to know...asking for a friend :/
Always a good sign when you're looking at the possibility of moving back to the UK and realising that you would never own a home again, despite leaving the country in the first place because of that same reason...
The games industry jobs market is utter shite right now.
I know, I know, that's hyperbole and catastrophe, but I'm tired, and sick of being depressed, and bikes make me not depressed.
Anyone else want to sell everything they own off (ha.) build a set of bike caravans and fuck off into the sunset together, because it feels like a far more sane idea, than continuing to take part in whatever the fuck this is with living costs spiralling, and some orange turd who seems to want Bronze Age Collapse 2; this time it's personOIL?
No name on here, because *I* would like to keep my privacy here. Very happy to share via DM though.
I just reserve the right to be online and exist without the risk of potentially doxxing myself.
Sending this out again, because my husband needs a job, and we want to stay in the Montreal area.
My husband was made redundant 2 weeks ago. He's an Art Director in video games, with a background in character art. 20 years experience spent in both game dev and outsourcing. Last game he worked on was Disney Dreamlight Valley, but he's also worked on Marvel's Avengers, Epic Mickey, Payday 2, and Sea of Thieves. Very good at building new teams, including a whole new character art division for what was India's most well-known outsourcers.
He is looking for another Art Director role, but also happy to be a Character art lead or similar role again.
Currently based in MTL, would like to Stay here, but also open to moving province or even emigrate (again) for the right role. We are looking for leads, or to talk to company recruiters.
Thank you, please RT!

One day I'm going to learn to do these and set the privacy preferences properly...
My husband was made redundant from his role as Art Director last week. We currently don't have any income and not much savings after a difficult year, and I can't work full time due to disability.
I have some tileset assets on itch.io available, some compatible with GB Studio, Playdate, and RPG Maker MV. If you were thinking of buying some, now would be an extremely good time to do so.
We had a camping trip already booked this weekend. We are going on that with a friend also in a similar situation, and we're going to plan as a group while we're there and get them both out of a stressful situation for a couple of days. But, if you know of a place in Montreal or Canada looking for a proven and experienced Art Director and Narrative Designer, please do get in touch, because 2 of my favourite people in the world need jobs right now, and it's a bit of a scary situation to be in.
Hi all,
There's no CV at the moment, because I posted this immediately after I found out. I wanted to get some leads to potential places, so that while our entire world collapsed, so I had something positive to give to my husband.
Not the time to be criticising how I posted this, also not the time to be grilling me about the Canadian healthcare system for points. If you want to post something like that, I suggest you move along.
Thanks to those who have messaged me with some leads, you folks are brilliant as always.
A little more info: 20 years experience in games including as an outsource art director on Marvels Avengers, and he has worked with Rockstar Games in India.
Chill guy, very very good with production pipelines, and identifying and solving those issues.
Character art background, but training in all 3D areas.
Absolutely stella guy too.

HELP NEEDED! PLEASE RT
My Husband has just been made redundant.
He was the Art director on Disney Dreamlight Valley who actually turned the project around from yet another mobile game, to the multiplatform, biggest success Gameloft has ever had with a game.
He was also supporting mine and our daughter's disabled asses. We now have no private insurance and have come up against brick walls in the Quebec public health system.
We basically need him employed ASAP in the Montreal. Please RT!
Reposting because I didn't take privacy off
