For anyone with a Chruchyroll account, you should probably go reset your password. I failed to change it (come on, basic stuff people) but was able to use the forgot my password system.

Sounds like there was a breech but I haven’t heard it from a reputable source yet. But as long as you reset by going directly to crunchy you should be fine.

If you start getting weird emails telling you to reset it out of the blue, be wary. If they have your email they could be trying something.

Imho there’s a few covers of that song that really pushes it further. Some with better guitars, some with better vocals.

I wonder why it’s so common that I get stacked days when it comes to anime and seasons. Some days nothing, and today I got four new ones :)

Because it’s not the same day of the week each season. So it doesn’t follow some genre pattern or similar.

There’s probably no meaningful answer. Just me being curious :)

I knew the show was good. People kept saying it was. But it’s honestly better than that. I love how the characters are actually complex. I actually cried when when we got a focus on a character that had been set up as a sleaze turns out to have face blindness and genuinely was the victim and only being guilty of being a bit naive.

Him being reunited after he thought she was dead and even in her state had my tears rolling (very uncommon in my case).

Just such a great show, great characters, and great mysteries. I was able to guess some big plot points, but it felt more like me reacting to their intentional hints than predictable writing.

But I also have a question if anyone knows. How did it end up with two mangas, and is the Square Enix the recommended one? I probably shouldn’t read the manga yet. But it is so damn good.

Also the layers on the quack doctor. Expected an antagonist, but he turned out to be a good big brother that tried his best and is if a bit dense actually quite sweet.

Makes me wonder what else I’ve totally missed.

Is there any way of figuring out if an account (handle? nick? address? identifier? what is it actually called?) is let’s say pixelfed or mastodon or something else?

(Why? Wanted to consolidate my pixelfed viewing inside the pixelfed app and thus follow the pixelfed ehm accounts there.)

How do you feel about Shinto Shrines? Recently got a bit more interested in them and realized that I didn’t visit one when I went to Japan (in ‘99, so ancient history). Wished that I had.

I’m not spiritual nor religious, but I am respectful whenever I visit religious places. Just realized that I’ve never been to anything but Christian churches. Go figure.

Anyway, the Torii gates, the clothes, the little things you buy (wards?), the buildings. I could kinda see myself going to one.

So to anyone going there, I’d recommend spending a little time visiting one or you might regret it too :)

Informational fact of the night: The largest shareholder of Sony, Nintendo, and Bandai Namco is the same. That company is 45% owned by one of the biggest “banks” in Japan with assets in the trillion of dollars.

The largest owner of both Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google is one and the same, a trust in charge of around ten trillion dollares.

Took me maybe 5-10 minutes to look up. I’m not a financial expert. I also couldn’t find the ownership of AMD and Intel.

The MegaCorps turned out to be MegaBanks, but they are just like in the old cyberpunk books.

I genuinely have no idea who the other Filian is. But seeing two fully mocapped ones (with a system that is better than consumer hardware) is pretty cool.

Was thinking I should get HiDive as well for a while. Drain it of the top shows I’m interested in and then dropping it again.

Wow do the apps have terrible ratings. I generally don’t super care about reviews, but with apps such as this it tends to show a displeasure. Yikes. 1.7 for the AppleTV app. That’s crazy low.

(Should point out that imho all streaming apps are a 1 with some like prime being a 0. They are all turds and some don’t crash. Turns out there is, to no surprise, zero completion. Capitalism hates completion. Every year a few more will fold and get eaten up by the others…)

Might still dare it, some of those shows look like fun. But it is with dread.

Especially the voice of the girl. Looked up the VA and apparently her parents are Japanese, she grew up in Los Angeles, and she lives in Japan since ‘16.

She’s suppose to be British, but sounds like a U.S. dub trying to sound a bit Japanese. Felt like I was watching a partially dubbed anime.

I’m sure she’s lovely and I have probably heard her in some original audio anime or two. But the trailer was enough for me.

Are those big rectangle backpacks they wear in Dandadan a real thing they have in Japan? Not the classic school ones, but the bigger more “adult” size.

Never seen them so I go curious. Actually looks pretty good, and kinda practical. Could also keep things more safe.

@anianimalsmoe Was reminded about the VTuber awards and Hololive when I read your post about Pekora.

Apparently they want to involve Hololive more, but there’s some barriers. Apparently the barriers aren’t Hololive themselves (or any of the other groups) and the intention is that it’s supposed to be for all VTubers.

The exact details escapes me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s clipped. Filian did a stream with behind the scenes commentary etc and it was kinda interesting.

Probably a lot less animosity between most VTubers than people think. Plus the top ones can’t very well interact with everyone all the time.

Filiana also sounded pretty stoked over Fuwamoco winning, so that was cool :)

Personally I don’t care who wins (and please if you read this, don’t go saying bad things about anyone who wins. Don’t harass people!), but they tend to be more fun than actors and fleshtubers. So watching.
