New on The Idea Place: 14 audio tours of my apps. Two AI hosts walk through each one, and every demo you hear is a real recording of NVDA, JAWS or Narrator using the app. There are tours of QuickMail, WeatherFast and RSS Quick so far, each with a transcript.

Listen: https://theideaplace.net/tours/

My projects page has also been redone, with a home page for every project. The full story: https://theideaplace.net/pipermail/projects_theideaplace.net/2026-November/000019.html

Concerning behavior from a popular open-weight AI model
https://cohere.com/blog/concerning-behaviour-popular-open-weight-ai-model

@jakobrosin This happened to me too. We went to see Deadpool, it said on the website it was described, I think we even called ahead, we get in the theater, guy gives us the headsets, they don't work. All we got was a refund. Never going back to that theater.

A whole generation of blind people are refusing to go to the theater because of this. It's becoming a serious problem.

Every time I get super-close to subscribing to Anthropic's Claude pro plan, Gemini pulls a trick or two to save me from doing that.
Wonder if it will be the case this time around!

In case you didn't try it yet, the Reading Mode in CHrome is absolutely fabulous, IMHO. THis is especially true after the Option+SHift+r shortcut key has been introduced. Open the article of your choice, press the short and you are on your way!
You can even configure it for various voices, etc. Have fun!

@msbellows @StaceyCornelius It totally sucks. I keep voting in every single election, regardless of how much it fucking sucks. I'm really disappointed that millions of people, who aren't disabled at all, who could have got off their asses for less than an hour to vote - did not vote. Non-voting majority has helped bring in majority BC Conservatives government. I'm very upset. Once I get over current ire feelings, back to fighting the government & supporting more lawsuits against the government!

With no food deliveries since May, starving residents flee Russian-occupied territory - The Washington Post https://apple.news/AbxFzl-nYSYerUoSEl6ozXA

I finally installed AVM by AllisonFM85: https://github.com/allisonfm85/accessible-virtual-machine. This not only helped me to get an accessible virtual machine host but also ditch hundreds of megabytes of VMWare Fusion that would crash a virtual machine whenever VoiceOver was started.
I just saw that @kellylford sent in a PR for Ubuntu support. Very cool!

Philomena: Some people have been writing PHP for over 20 years. Is that because it's particularly difficult to finish?

Expert: No, software is constantly evolving.

Philomena: So they've been writing the same website for 20 years?

Expert: No, different projects.

Philomena: Have they tried finishing one before starting another?

Expert: That's not how software development works.

Philomena: My mate Paul spent 20 years building a shed. Turned out he was just an alcoholic.

Expert: Right.

Philomena: Is PHP like that?
