fuck off, Greg

I used to call my panic disorder “Greg.” Maybe I need to bring that back.

(I also called my negative self-talk “Steve.”)

Dear panic disorder:

Get all the way fucked

the thing about principles is that if you compromise on them in the name of convenience, you don’t have principles

although I'm still stuck in a slow update queue so it'll be a while before I can use this new watch I guess

2026 is stupid

Looks like you can fast-track an iOS 27 upgrade on an iPhone by buying a series 12 Apple Watch, neat.

It could probably use some error bars though

Finally decided to get a bit more specific about my pronoun preferences

One quirk of my upbringing is that we had Chinese neighbors, and our families were very close, so we’d host each other for dinner all the time. As a consequence of this they made absolutely sure I was good at using chopsticks, and they’re second nature to me.

It’s always surprising to me just how badly non-Asian friends of mine struggle with them, though.

Thinking about the time I was in Tokyo on business and I went to a toy store with some Japanese coworkers and we came across a chopstick training game where you have to pick up little plastic soy beans and put them in a cup. They dared me to play it, expecting me to do badly at it, and were very surprised that I did just as well as them.

AGAB (Assigned Gonzo At Birth)

One time I was walking home from the grocery store and saw a big gray blur out of the corner of my eye and I thought, “kitty?” And I looked over to it and no, it was a big ol raccoon walking next to me, just being a friendly fellow minding its own business. It didn’t bother me and I didn’t bother it, and then we went on our separate merry ways.

Sometimes this town feels kinda magical.

My reward for being up way past my bedtime and checking my security footage

I wonder if Imagine Dragons has a support band, Consider Kobolds

so, fun fact, it turns out that the functionality I hacked into Bandcrash in one night to provide gapless CD authoring is something that other software charges huge amounts of money for, so like, on the one hand, I saved $90 from having to buy some bullshit DAO authoring package, but on the other hand, I’m giving it away for free, good thing I’m not a capitalist

which is to say, https://fluffy.itch.io/bandcrash saves you money

(This works for most things with bullshit cancellation fees BTW)

Want to cancel your Adobe subscription but don't want to pay a massive cancellation fee?

1. Sign up for a disposable credit card with a low spending limit (e.g. $5); I use https://privacy.com/
2. Switch your Adobe billing information to use it; the $1 preauth will go through and your old card will be removed from the account
3. Cancel your account (optional)
4. Cackle for the next 9 months as Adobe repeatedly tells you your account is past-due and it'll be cancelled if you don't pay the fee

which option will have the most votes

@nora I wore one of your trans color pendants to my choir show tonight and a bunch of people were super curious about it! Expect to get a bit more business. :)

like earlier today someone had a specific question about some work visa stuff and someone else very confidently posted something written by ChatGPT and I'm like, hey, uh, ChatGPT isn't something we should rely on for someone's livelihood or residency
