Anyone else seen the government sponsored TV advert where two guys are worried about the rising coat of energy?
Just when you think its going to point to help for those who can't afford to put the heating on it pivots to a dire warning about not trying to tamper with gas meters.
Yes. Thanks. That's the takeaway from years of failed energy policy.
There are some pieces of hardware that one should not try to fuck with.
The maker space for hardware is really depressing for stock of anything right now :(

I agree with Double Tap here, and as a result, I have added disclaimers in both my README and user manual so users know exactly what they are getting into. Also, if someone gets banned while using whatSnap, kindly DM me the things you were doing at the time, as well as the log file located at %localappdata%\whatSnap\logs\backend.log. This will help me debug what the issue is. Again, if your number matters to you a lot and you can live with the official app, please do so.
Rust rocks! Discord is killing its Electron app that can eat 4GB of RAM on Windows 11, and the Rust rebuild uses just 290MB.

When you read about Bans of Social Media for Teens and Age Verification, you must remember what it truly means:
• Official identification of every adult using social media.
• Deanonymization of every account, endangering groups that often rely on pseudonymity for safety, such as victims of domestic violence, victims of stalkers, people of color, and LGBTQ+ people.
• Putting every adult at great danger of exploitation, fraud, and identity theft by forcing them to share their official ID with a for-profit third-party company with no incentive to protect it. Breaches have already happened.
• Constructing a system of mass surveillance to attach every comment on social media to a legal identity. Effectively allowing authoritarian governments to silence their critics and opposition.
• Potential for dystopian censorship and cutting off means of organization for groups of resistance to oppressive regime and organizations.
• Endangering children online by putting a clear identification beacon over every child or family with children online.
• Endangering the data of children who will inevitably try to pass as adults, and have their information collected by the third-party for-profit company.
• Diminishing the value of official identification due to the inevitable data breaches, eventually pushing the system to require even more intrusive identification techniques, such as iris scans and fingerprints.
• Installing a system of mass surveillance capable of attaching even more information to everyone's legal identity. With a potential to built list of people in certain groups, and scale-up state censorship and discrimination in unprecedented ways.
• The list goes on and on.
This isn't about protecting the children.
It never was.
Do not be duped by this excuse used to convince you to let go of your human rights. They are only trying to manipulate people lacking information.
Stay informed on the issues related to Age Verification, and push back for your rights to privacy and democracy.
The future depends on us.

As if text skipping, temporary loss of speech and audio ducking issues were not enough. Now it's unspeakable text with VoiceOver in iOS 27. Apple, please give us a break!

The film & TV industry needs a Gordon Ramsey equivalent to go in and shout at them for all the crap decisions they make. Stop them over/under cooking everything, having too many cooks in the kitchen, and letting the owner control the menu.
I found the strangest iOS 27.3 bug: VoiceOver speech using eloquence is incredibly flat, very similar to how it was in the iOS 27 beta. This, however, is not the case when changing the rotor item, for example, between characters, words, lines, speech rate, ETC, but normal speech is

The ability to read rendered Markdown right from Paperback's web view has become an indispensable tool at work. So naturally I sent some of October's sallary to @TheQuinbox as a donation.
@fireborn @amir We do try to hold these companies to account the best we can in our limited capacity. I do receive devices from Apple for review but we are in no way obligated to say nice things about them. I’m tired of the fanboyism and the idea that criticism is negative. Siri AI for example is, to use a nice British word - bollocks. As much as I am an Apple user I cannot seriously be positive about something which is so inherently bad. However when they get it right we will absolutely praise the hell out of them. Same for other companies. For us that’s the core of how we gain the listeners respect; which matters way more to me than a free iPhone.
Mexico’s government has an agreement with grocery companies to fix the price of a basket of essential foods. President Claudia Sheinbaum is making clear that it is her responsibility to negotiate on behalf of ordinary people and make essentials affordable. This is the opposite of neoliberalism, which tells people that democracy is the greatest system, yet that elected officials can do little to meet their basic material needs. Mexico has also capped energy prices.
I used to work as a clairvoyant and fortune reader. But I got bored with how incredibly easy it was to mislead and bullshit everyone. So now I mislead and bullshit everyone from my insurance marketing job instead.
I borrowed an iPhone Duo and reviewed it. It's a pretty middling foldable. It feels like a prototype, and I've never said that about an Apple product before. Black bars on almost every app, typing sucks, using it closed kind of sucks, and it runs iPhone apps when it should run iPad apps. A first-generation foldable, eight years late.

Thanks :) @fireborn so I looked into this, but turns out the issue wasn’t with the msix.TLDR, I switched ui frameworks and now it’s working. Insane, but a bunch of known issues with Maui projects cause failure to run if installed with MSIX. I’m using qt now because MS doesn’t know how to make a native ui framework that can be packaged, installed and run via a package they made, on an os they made. Guess this why win apps are PWA and accessibility going to hell in a hand basket.
*chuckles* if you knew what kind of weird little things i have to deal with every other day. for example > Reason: To populate J16, we need to expand below indicated edge rail by 8mm, there will be extra cost $25.97.
Is everyone tired of iPhone Duo reviews yet? Is there room for another one? Should I write one?
