Folks, please share the link for our Fediverse Multimedia Grants.
We have funding for creators to make podcasts, artist's portfolios, webcomics, music stores, video streams, or brand new kinds of channels here. And we pay developers to help them be successful.
Our deadline is Wed 4 Nov 2026. It only takes a few minutes to apply.

@card I need a card
If you want to make something on the Fediverse, please make it. If someone tells you they don't like it or they don't think it's necessary, tell them they don't have to use it. It's a big Fediverse out there. Lots of open space.
I'm doing a #Fediverse onboarding today at the #Montreal #AnarchistTechConvergence #atc2026.

It walks through all the steps of getting on the Fediverse. I'm excited for the chance!
@thegame ugh I just lost again by looking at my own profile
Also I just lost @thegame
Please join @thegame if you want to be notified any time someone on the Fediverse loses The Game
If you were born before 1945, hi! 👋🏼 Nice to see you on the Fediverse. I'm glad you're here.
🙄
Yes, there exist old people who are inexperienced with technology.
No, that does not mean that all old people are inexperienced with technology.
∃ x ( old(x) ∧ inexp(x) ) ⇏ ∀ x ( old(x) → inexp(x) )
It also doesn't mean it's OK to keep using "old people" as a synonym for "inexperienced with technology".
The stereotype that grandmas and grandpas, much less parents and aunts and uncles, are inexperienced with technology is obsolete and meaningless. Enough already.
Personal computers were introduced around 1975 and were widespread in offices by 1985. The Internet was widely available by 1995.
Baby Boomers in their 70s and 80s today used networked PCs 40 years ago.
The generation before them, who grew up and became adults without connected computers in their lives, is mostly gone. (RIP ☝🏼)
Anyone who is interested in the #Fediverse and #ActivityPub is welcome to join the Social Web Community Group #SocialCG at the #w3c.
It's the group that develops and advances the social standards that make this network go. It's open to anyone. If you have specific interests, we have task forces that work on specific topics. Or you can start one!
It's easy to join.
One definition of "a racist" is someone who espouses a racist ideology, which I'd roughly break down as:
- races of humans exist
- significant physical and psychological differences exist more between races than within races
- public and private policies should be applied that differentiate between people based on race
So, thanks to everyone who replied. I know this is a difficult topic and I appreciate that people take it seriously. Here are my thoughts on the topic. I'm coming from a position as a person who grew up in the United States, descended from colonisers and immigrants.
I'm aware that I talk about topics on here that you feel passionately about, and that you really want to discuss. That's probably why I blocked you. It's best if you find another space besides my mentions to have that discussion. It's a big Fediverse.
There are a lot of ways to interact with the ActivityPub community that don't require interaction with my personal accounts.
If you are involved in ActivityPub, and you have something to say about it, you can use the GitHub issue tracker or public-swicg mailing list or come to CG or WG meetings. Or you can make an issue on one of my FEPs, or you can make a post on https://activitypub.space/ .
If I blocked one of your accounts from one of my accounts, that means I don't want to interact with you. You are not welcome to interact with one of my other accounts from one of your other accounts.
