It is also my 4 year fediversary, as I left the cesspool that is Elon's Twitter (TBF, it was called a hellsite before that) and joined Mastodon here at dice.camp! This is the best social media experience that I've ever had, and when I see friends on other corporate social media sites complaining about them, I always think, you don't have to settle for that experience! There's so much out there and it's just getting better.
Watched the Japanese horror film Exit 8 (2025, d. Genki Kawamura) tonight, an adaptation of an indie video game. An unnamed protagonist is trapped in a liminal space (a corridor in a Tokyo subway station) after receiving some unexpected news from his ex-girlfriend. He must follow "the rules of the game" to escape from its time/spatial loop. What follows is a weird, oft frustrating experience (like watching someone play a game), but it's compelling.
Watched Dave Made a Maze (2017, d. Bill Watterson, not that one) a visually inventive fantasy comedy. Failed artist Dave creates a cardboard maze in his living room while his girlfriend is away. It somehow becomes real inside, complete with deadly boobytraps, origami critters, and a man eating minotaur. Trapped inside, his girlfriend and friends must rescue him and escape. Quirky, whimsical, and absurdist, but not too deep, and with some questionable acting.
It was proven today that the Fediverse liked Dolly Parton as much as it likes cats.
Also, this was the first time I've watched a movie on Amazon Prime since they added commercials, and holy crap, does that UX suck balls. I can't believe I have to praise Peacock for how they handle commercials - keep them at the beginning and don't interrupt the fucking movie. It's not like anyone is paying attention to the ads anyways.
I completed #MovieClub on the last day by watching The Conversation (1974) last night, which I had never seen before. Befitting it's subject matter, I found the sound design of the movie to be really impressive, loved the views of 1970s SF, and Gene Hackman was great. Interesting seeing Harrison Ford in something other than a hero in a movie.
Three kernels of ideas for TTRPGs
1. You encounter a functioning, though apparently deserted, lighthouse atop a rocky promontory in the middle of the desert. Why is it there?
2. The legal system's worst nightmare: fey sovereign citizens!
3. Someone stole all the apple pies, the rings for the ring toss game, and the lock box containing all the money from the local festival. Whodunit?
I'm putting this out into the universe! Send good vibes my way if you will!

If you've never watched Farscape, well, you missed out, but now is the time to rectify your mistake!
It looks like I pruned away 50% of my posts!
Holy moly, was my post auto-deletion set way too low. Made a few tweaks and it's already deleted 2K+ posts. I guess they can't all be viral gold! 😀
I haven't watched episode 3 yet, but hopefully they'll answer one of the biggest questions of C3, which Matt Mercer has stubbornly refused to answer (to the detriment of the overall story and the player) - what happens if Predathos kills a god?
So I've watched the first two episodes and I'm having a hard time getting into it despite the best efforts of Brennan Lee Mulligan and the cast. That's because I know what happens to Aeor (it crashes) and all the gods (they survive). It's like watching a well acted cut scene.
It finally stopped raining, so I took my dog for a walk and encountered some of our neighborhood’s larger feathered friends…
Just curious, have you purchased anything from creators who've posted about their creations here on the #Fediverse? Please boost for more visibility.
Hey, when it comes to adding alt text to our images, dice.camp is not only in the top 50 of all instances, but in the top 25! But we can still do better! Help people who use screen readers out!

If independent creators aren't supposed to promote their work, how am I supposed to know what to buy or recommend to my friends? More importantly, how are they supposed to eat?
C'mon, this is the #Fediverse. If promotion bugs you that much, put your big person pants on and curate your feeds instead of bellyaching. Yes, I know people can abuse self-promotion (like porn, you know it when you see it), but most creators are just trying to find an audience and survive. Give them a break.
