Dear software companies:
I do not want an Experience. I want to do the thing I launched your program to do and then move on with my fucking life. I do not want to remember how your software felt to use. I want to remember the Work I did while using your software.
You are not designing an amusement park. You are designing a tool. My screwdriver is not an Experience. Building this furniture is an Experience.

thinking about winding down my shared blocklists tbh. it’s draining and tons of almost entirely unpaid labor to find, archive, and catalog receipts. one awesome person pays a dollar a week but it’s really not enough to justify this effort.
i might write a retrospective and advice for anyone else who wants to try.

FediNuke transparency update:

volk.lovevolk.networkpeertube.setsundere.loveReceipts are available in my blocklists page.

hat-tip to @jmjl for pointing me to OpenWebSearh.EU/Owler’s new “GenAI” product token and SemRush’s array of product tokens.
New page on seirdy.one: Scrapers I block (and allow), with explanations.
I’ve replaced all the comments in my robots.txt file with a more readable and detailed web page on scrapers I block. It includes info on the multiple blocking-approaches and criteria I use, commonly-blocked scrapers I allow, and more fact-checking than most of the more comprehensive alternatives.
