Isn't it great when family assumes the worst when you don't answer a phone call or text right away? I had fallen asleep, Mom tried to call me, and when I finally heard it and got to the phone she had texted five times, called maybe two times, and left a voicemail. She said she was about to call the police and have them do a welfare check on me. I've told her I would let her know if something was wrong, but "what if you were unresponsive? What if you'd had a heart attack and couldn't get to your phone? What if I was unresponsive?" I told her that I have medical ID, so someone would be able to contact her. About her not being responsive, I pointed out she could be on a call, or maybe she could even be asleep. But no, she's going to hear her phone, and she'll either answer it or send a text that she can't talk right now. I get having concerns, but there's a difference between being concerned and assuming the worst.

Anyone who's #blind with a custom #PC? Am looking for ways to safely clean out my internals. I already know things like power off, unplug, and turn your power supply off. I know compressed air helps, but I also know that computer parts are fragile and I don't want to possibly break anything. I do not have an industrial level air compressor since I don't need something that intense for one computer. I'm also thinking of getting a 4TB SSD for my birthday using a combination of some giftcards I got for Christmas and seeing if a family member would be willing to help me pay the difference. I will if I have to, but I'm hoping to not have to do a full Windows install and then try to bring all my apps over. For those who have done a full SSD clone, which software have you found accessible with NVDA or that at least works reasonably well? My motherboard has three SSD slots from the research I've done, so I will not need an enclosure. The ultimate goal is make my 4TB my primary, then the 1TB either for Windows insider builds, a potential Linux distro, or pretty much for anything that I want to test without screwing my main drive.

Hey iOS 27? It's not your place to decide you don't want to describe an image because of possible "sensitive content". When I tell you to describe an image, you describe an image. Thanks.

As I mentioned yesterday, with the help of #Claude, I am attempting to create a #Accessibility mod for #KingOfFightersXV, and we are slowly but surely making progress. The main menu finally reads, so now trying to tackle the rest of the game. Between yesterday and today Claude and I have been back and forth for about five or six hours. No definitive release date at this time, so stay tuned to this thread.#KoFXV #Gaming

Hello from FastSM for iOS.

When your phone gives you the message that your max battery capacity is below 80%, should you just replace the battery or upgrade the phone?

Does anyone know if BSI was fixed in iOS 27 beta 3? I'm still on beta 1 right now.

So like people on audiogames.net love to do, you have quite a few now complaining about the new changes. I find it interesting how a lot of these people sit there and say "make us like mainstream communities. We need to act like others so we can encourage devs to come here and feel welcome", but when something like limiting if not banning political discussions like they just did happens, certain individuals have to get butthurt because they can't discuss the politics of a country they're not in and therefore are not affected by.

Hey Capital One? Just like the other 50,000,000 times you've offered it, I'm still not interested in shopping for cars, so screw off with that. Now if a fully self driving car becomes available to consumers, then maybe we'll talk. Until that day though, I'm happy sticking with my credit card.

I'm really impressed with ordering from Amazon with Alexa Plus. The iOS app works with VO for the most part, but it's still nice being able to get product descriptions and not have to hear current location every few swipes.

Calling any #iPhone users. Can anyone confirm that the block and unblock trick does not notify the other person that they lost location access? I have a family member who has access to my location, but they're abusing it. I'm not opposed to this person having it in case of an emergency, but sometimes I'm asked why I'm at certain places and I don't appreciate it. I am paying this person every month to live there, and they're also out of state a month at a time for work, so even if something happens nothing they can really do. I know I can go into the Find My app and just stop sharing location, but then they'll see a big banner that I stopped sharing location. Why Apple thought this was needed I'll never know, but whatever.

Hello from Tusky on the Pixel 6A using Talk Forward. In some places it's more responsive than Talkback, but the Braille keyboard is a little sluggish. It also has an annoying bug when you type too fast that makes it think it needs to re-arrange the dots. It also sometimes registers a scroll gesture as a rotation. Both issues may have something to do with the hardware I'm using, but it's something to point out. Not a complaint since this product is still new, but some screens and the edge gestures are not fully translated to English. Anyone else noticing that when you try to pull up the app drawer with a three-finger swipe up it can't seem to do it?

Looks like we'll be using Backpack Studio after all. https://testflight.apple.com/join/UdDCabHK?

Was reconsidering Backpack Studio as a possibly better option than Icefall for live streaming to AudioPub from iOS, but forget that. I'm all for supporting developers who make their software accessible, but now they're getting a bit greedy. $10.00 for the app up front is no problem. But putting features behind subscription paywalls for a product that already costs money as it is? Nah. Forget that. Especially IceCast. If I'm streaming to an IceCast or similar type of server, the developers of Backpack Studio are not sending my content to any of their servers. It is going from my device directly to whereever I'm hosting my stream.

Don't you love it when an app's update change log ropes you in with all these words, then all you hear for its changes is "improvements and bug fixes"?

Can anyone hear me on the stream? The listeners I had couldn't, but when I listen to myself on Safari I can hear things no problem.

I've had two people on Blind Ads try to only give me over $200 less than what I'm asking for my Ally. I don't mind going down a little bit, but most units, same model, with a dock, are going for between $350 and $400. I initially listed it at $350+shipping, then just the other day I brought it to $325 and that includes shipping, and still someone emails me today "I can only do $100 because of international shipping".

So. I normally don't do posts like this, but right now I'm making an exception for one thing. Anyone that visits the audiogames.net forum semi regularly likely saw the warning about Thrive topic published within the last day or so where op decided for reasons only known to them that they had to do four separate posts before anyone had time to respond rather than just putting everything they wanted to say in the first post. While I do agree with the sentiments about not storing passwords in plain text and the importance of end-to-end encryption, the double standard and selective application of rules exhibited by members of this community is laughable. Let me be clear, I do realize that the actions exhibited by the developer throughout their time in this community have not exactly helped their case in a lot of ways, butlet's just put that aside for a little bit. One of the most popular applications in the blind community makes some of the same security choices as the Thrive developers. Passwords stored in plain text, private messages sent between users visible in server logs, etc. We continue to use TeamTalk, sending different types of personal information either in PM or channel message, but another app that acts similar comes out and oh no it's evil and dangerous. Like I said, I do agree that in 2026, encryption is important and should not be hard since their are various protocols available for accomplishing this, but that's beside the point. The point is, don't cherrypick what your rules apply to. And as for the passwords thing, password managers exist for a reason, people. Use them. Yeah it's a bit of a process to get up and running, but once you do it handles everything behind the scenes for you and gives you individualized strong passwords for every app, service, website, etc. Also, people almost seem to overlook that encrypted or not, if someone wants your passwords bad enough they're going to find them. For anyone that did not see the thread, here it is. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/58676/a-friendly-warning-about-thrive-messenger/

I'm Rich on Thrive Messenger if anyone would like to add me there.

So, I think I may be done with Luna for iOS. It hasn't been blocking ads for about two weeks. Not sure how known this is, but I found through some digging and reading Reddit that setting a VPN to Albania gets rid of ads. For the little bit I've been watching videos from Mullvad with an Albania IP it's worked great. I'll definitely be using my Mullvad a lot more now on mobile.
