Please help finance GIMP, Inkscape and Krita instead of spending your money on trying to get Claude to make you a Photoshop clone.

Short one from the OP-Z

When the creative coding juices aren't flowing, sometimes I like to pick up the camera and take abstract photos of things found around the home. These were all made with extension tubes to allow for closer focus, though most of these are deliberately out of focus. #photography #abstract

Ten years of building open source projects, in chronological order.
It starts with the satshakit boards in 2015 and runs through the LaserDuo, BigFDM, the Fabulaser Mini, TseNC, MidFDM and the Open Lab Starter Kit — 30+ projects, every one published: hardware, firmware, software, documentation.
All of them still documented and still replicable. OISK doumentation in the making.
Piccola CNC is the newest one, built the same way.
Boosts appreciated 🔁
Another one made with the OP-Z. I don't know if #looptober imposes a track length limit but I figured it would be nice to have the buildup.

Making dinner:
Kid: It says "5 potatoes cubed" which is 125 potatoes.
Me: No. It's still 5 potatoes, because potatoes are a root vegetable.
I don't have any words for this one right now, but here's a thing.

I remember creating physarium sims for my architecture students back in 2013 and then only managed to run a few thousand agents in realtime (in Java/Processing). Even that was super exciting. Now people are able to casually throw around four million of them (and in < 8KB, incl. music)...
Lovely stuff and I like the use of density/pattern masks/gradients to create these multi-scale aesthetics. Beautiful! 🤩👏
A little funky doodle I made on my OP-Z #looptober
This documentary by Alan Lomax, although possibly a bit dated, draws some very interesting parallels between traditional dance and means of production as well as other factors like climate and social hierarchy: https://youtu.be/MOsZhZIQ-6Q?si=SanF_LNE71DRpPbf
I'm wondering if there is similar research more generally about music, e.g. tracing the origins of specific time signatures, scales etc back to some other cultural/labour-specific characteristics?
Still having some issues with mass conservation, but there is some qualitative success.
I might be onto something...

My work "Biotapestries", shown at the exhibition Phototropic, were meant as prototypes for #biobased material systems. On a more symbolic level, the two frames contain textiles woven on two radically different scales - a coarse, macroscopic one, weaving thick sisal rope upon instructions from a computer; and a microscopic one, produced by a SCOBY culture to seal itself off from the outside world.
Different manufacturers, not so different motivations.
