This time, for the first time, I brought a camera along to take a few frames at the finish. These days Sotka stands as a symbol of our resilience, so I symbolically chose craft film made by Ihor Poliakov, who produces it by hand in his own garage.

After the full-scale invasion began, we kept organizing our events, but their format changed dramatically. Today there are no sponsors, and only the bare minimum of organizational costs is covered. The number of participants has dropped significantly. All the money we collect from entry fees goes to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Later, we founded the Lviv Bicycle Club and began organizing sporting events, from 100 km rides to multi-day bikepacking marathons in the Carpathians of up to 1,200 km. Every year the number of participants grew. The event turned into a big sporting celebration with 1,500 riders from all over Ukraine and abroad. Sponsors joined us, and the mayor gave the starting signal near Lviv City Hall.

Seventeen years ago, my friends and I decided to organize an amateur 100 km ride around Lviv for cycling enthusiasts. Fewer than 20 cyclists from Lviv took part. That ride became the beginning of the first and largest amateur cycling event in Ukraine: Lviv Sotka (the Lviv Hundred).
