It is not that everything was better in the past, but the future was!
With progress being made everywhere — political, economical, environmental, social, and technical progress — the future promised by all that, it was wonderful! It was bright and warm and shiny.
Today's future is fucked, fucked, fucked. The progress turned into a sham.
"Ick kann jarnich so ville fressen, wie ick kotzen möchte" — der Maler Max Liebermann über die Nazi-Aufmärsche, die an seinem Haus am Brandenburger Tor vorbei führten.
So geht's mir auch mit der Politik heute. Mehr so insgesamt.
"I cannot eat as much as I want to puke" — painter Max Liebermann about the nazi parades in front of his house at the Brandenburg Gate.
I feel like that about politics today, too. In general, for the most part.
(I know I posted that before, but I saw a chance to omit needless words.)
A sentence by the author Tim Lott is true for myself exactly like that:
"I have on more than one occasion longed for a different way of making a living, a hope that I understand now is entirely in vain, as it is my only marketable ability."
