Sorry for the service interruptions in the last few hours. I've been notified of a new Mastodon version I better install.

Turned out I should have upgraded from 4.5.8 to 4.5.18. Since last update, versions 4.6 and 4.7 have been released. Thus I upgraded to the latest version 4.7.2 containing all the fixes 4.5.18 provides. And features!

Es funktioniert.

Durch den Versuch, LibreTranslate zu installieren, habe ich kurzzeitig das Volume zu 100 Prozent befüllt, was das System zum Stillstand gebracht hatte. Ich habe LibreTranslate erstmal wieder rückgängig gemacht.

Die Dienste mussten nur erstmal wieder neugestartet werden. Dann funktionierte auch die Suche.

Ich habe das Update mal zum Anlass genommen, Elasticsearch für die Volltextsuche einzurichten. Ich habe keine Ahnung, ob das jetzt funktioniert :-). Aber der Suchindex wurde erstellt.

Und wieder ein Update, diesmal von 4.2.10 auf 4.3.4. Release Notes: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases/tag/v4.3.4, aber auch die vorigen können interessant sein.

social.wikimedia.de läuft nun mit Mastodon 4.2.10, Release-Notes: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases/tag/v4.2.10

Vorher waren wir bei 4.2.7, die Release-Notes dazwischen mögen dann auch interessant sein.

Sorry for the downtime. I had to apply an update to the underlying OS and reboot the machine. The DB server didn't came back up with its prior IP address. And I didn't check. 😞

And the next update! We are now on 4.2.7.

Seems like they found another security related issue. I only got around today to update to 4.2.6.

Oh, well, a Mastodon update. Just as I wanted to call it a day.

And of course I ran out of memory while precompiling the assets but it doesn't mention running out of memory while simultaneously complaining about
