Wow this new movie made with #ai look really cheap imho like most of the newer hollywood productions. It raises the same feeling like with all those #ai generated music and such. I guess the thing is that you can see and value the incompleteness and non correct parts in art. Thats the human nature to stuff. The thing that makes stuff valuable is the part that falls out of place the rough edges and issues in the fabric. Thats why also in minimal art or esthetics you have always things that sticks out like plants or images that are abstract.

The point is. Life is not about perfection its about the issues and pains we have to overcome everyday. This makes life valuable even if it feels sometimes hard and unfair.

So we are currently recreating famous software products with "ai" or "si" as some might call it. So there is a adobe photoshop clone and swveral others that claim to reverse engineer all the stuff. But if ai companies eat all the data on the internet and even some intranets and leaked code snippits and stuff isnt that in theory just copiing the code of photoshop. You cant tell me the statistic system came up with that entire code itself. Sorry i have deep doubts #ai

Still sitting here trying my best at understanding how to use those #llm s and make all the fancy stuff they promised but i'm still failing. What am i doing wrong? At least the machine understands my lisp haskell scala java c js pretty good even if its considered less powerfull lately.

To #gentoo or not to #gentoo

the more i use computers the less i want all this fancy #ui s i just want all my apps i'm using in full screen and sometimes next to each other. so thats why i use most of the time tiling wms like #dwm it sucks less :D.

Which distros are now there without #ai in it #zuzai #noai

To all the #developers that love #ai and say how awesome it is to generate #code. I have one question for you. How do you suppose to cope with the energy and water consumption? No clue if a technology that waste enormous amounts of water and energy is a great thing to have if thats the case why don't all humans have super computers in their house? Furthermore how do you think will people with less income cope with that technology. I don't personally think that tokens will get cheaper.

Whats the point of mega campuses for tech companies? Imagine driving 1 - 2 hours to work living 8+ hours there and drive back for 1 - 2 hours imho 2-4 hours of your life simply wasted! More so the destruction of the planet + the best part just to sit there and talk to people in diffrent countries. #work #treatusasadults

ok next shower thought. I would love to read an article about "why production code will always look ugly". Imho this doesn't mean ugly in the sense of not appealing in some sections but more about that the very nature of our world and processes and stuff around it is ugly. Just imagine all the error handling you have to add so that a service is resilient. This makes imho the code ugly cause you are most of the time defining what the programm is NOT supposed to be doing instead of what it should do. Is that just my perception? #showerthought #dev

Wow i just again came to the conclusion that our entire industry is so hype driven. Why is that though? I hate it. Software was intended to save the world and now. Look at the ruins.

Is #cgi still a thing. Why was it abandoned? Imho this tech is still cool qnd very usefull. What are your thoughts?

So after 1 - 2 weeks doing a lot of #perl i don't get why people say write once language? Its not more ugly than lets say #python or #php or even #js. It's diffrent but in no means ugly or harder than other languages. What do i miss? Yeah i get people obsest with writing the smallest code can write pretty awefull onliners but on the other side its like an hiku or a small poem and by no means you should use that in production or in big applications. You dont use a poem to write a book right?

How do you deploy your #lisp apps. Somehow i like the idea of just loading my system in sbcl and let it run with the repl open.

the more #lisp i do the more i have the feeling that development of software was heading in such a wrong direction.

I guess i have to write down my very own 3d6 #ttrpg game system that i use with my kids. Its really simple fast paced and has everything that you need for #solorpg style of play. My children love it

lets make cgi state of the art for web development again! #webdev #web #cgi

Is there a tool to build dialogs and scenes and show interconnections and backstories of characters. Like a game authoring system. But than you can play and walk the scenes in a text adventure style? #gamedev #programming

i have no clue why but everytime i touch #clojure or #lisp it feels so good to do stuff with it. Even if i do my main coding in other languages. It would be so cool to use those technologies for my day to day job but i can only put a little here and there :(

Maybe another question is what does working with the computer really mean for us. Isn't it all specialised spreadsheets, games, doing graphics and organizing texts?

The more i read about all stugf going on and all thats happening right now technology wise economically and so on. I'm more and more driven to also start moving all the knowledge i need for doing my job and my passions away from the internet into my own hands. And i'm more and more looking into alternatives on how to persist it somewhere save. That also means that the systems i would need to do this need to be simple. In general so simple that its just pure information parseble by humans or creating for example software that i myself could implement in a few days with restricted tools. And best even without something like a compiler. And now i'm struggleing what would i need to have something like that. Physical copies and the source of #openbsd maybe or do i need a self implemented system. Maybe even a self implemented vm would be enough where my software runs on. Like with #uxn
