Why is #Microsoft #Outlook / #Exchange so awful at dealing with the volumes of #email most of us in large organisations deal with? It's not unusual to need to be doing bulk operations with 1000s of emails, and it just farts a pathetic fart, filling the air with the stink of microfiche with vinegar syndrome.

She stepped inside. The lights were on, but nobody was there.

"Hello?"

She hears a voice - "Coming"

A black woman in a blue formal coat (with far too many buttons) and a bright orange blouse steps from behind the counter, and looks up.

She looks up.

"Who the hell are you?"

The beast roared to life. The piston started rising and falling, that wonderful THWOOOOP started emanating - but soon as it started, it stopped.

"Where have you taken me?"

She stepped towards the door and opened it to a space station. It had been something once, but now barely any of the spaces were taken. Every surface had a mild patina of dust. There was a light that - as she approached it - seemed to be a bar?

Her Doctor, the one who'd regenerate no more, the one as much human as time lord (who'd taken to joking that he was a time knight - you know, less than a Lord?) has noticed a strange heat in a travelling professor - and before you knew it, there was running, hiding, a small incident in a particle physics department and now - well, they needed The Doctor. And the TARDIS.

She leant on the console.

She started walking around. Wait, was that a jukebox? It had been a long time since the doctor had danced. The Bretorn Collective found some weird fundamental change from the origin of the universe and started spreading themselves between universes on the power of myth.

It made no sense.

"Doctor!?" she intoned, increasingly worried that yeah - she was alone. Her, and the oversized interior of this strange, blue box. Where was he? When was he? Heck, for that matter, when and where was she?

How I'd solve the Rose Regeneration:

"Oh hello!"

Rose smiles that huge satisfied smile. She made it - her doctor had worked like hell, but at least for now, he'd managed to send her back.

She looks around. This is evidently the TARDIS, but he seems to have redecorated? She's not sure she likes it.

"Hello?"

It's quieter than it should have been. The TARDIS was never this quiet - it moaned like a living thing.

"Doctor?"

@Xibanya For bonus DIYiness, I can see if I can get do a basic arrangement of orchestra parts down to an acoustic guitar. I'm surprisingly decent at multiple lines there.

@Xibanya OK - it's stuck in my head - would you be amenable, if we can find a third voice, to a rendition of 'When the foeman bares his steel' from Pirates?

That last triple melody section is just brilliant.

Who's doing #fawm?

Weird request: If you're in #IT/#Programming and are a fan of #GilbertAndSullivan - any chance I can run a parody past you before I record it?

Trying to figure out if it works (and if it goes too far)

Adding more markdown colors is getting added as a future feature. I want to use those terminal features for things like bold/italics, and colors for ``` protected blocks.

But that is more work than I was willing to whack onto this already bloated card.

Sometimes, when coding your own thing, you do little things to make yourself happy even if it isn't _strictly in scope_ of the feature you're building.

I'm adding writing fields to #ScrumMD. I needed to rewrite the output code to make that work - which meant I'm moving (eventually) all output to Jinja2 templates rather.

And, to make me happy: I added ANSI color when using interactively to the new default template.

Did you know today is #InternationalAppreciationDay? It's always the 13th of September. It's less vague and mental-health washing then #RUOK day.

To celebrate - email or message somebody - could be an author, a musician, a board game designer, a journalist,an artist, a podcaster, a colleague, a speaker - anybody, to tell them you like and appreciate their work.

Since becoming a father, I've read lots of rhyming children's books with various precision of rhythm. Mem Fox, Emma Quay, Alison Lester - all utterly nail it.

One of the fascinating things - probably derived from leaning towards established poetic forms - is the amount of books that feel like they've got a music like time signature. Books that feel like 4/4, or 12/8, or 3/4.

Still waiting on a children's book in 7/4 though. That'd be funky.

Maybe I should write one.

@xor Is train botting, alas, dead?

Thanks for maintaining it as long as you did. It was a lovely little distraction.
