Something I've wondered about for a while - why is bird 💩 white? Turns out it's because it's not 💩, it's pee. Apparently birds pee a pasty white solid instead of a yellowish liquid. The more you know!

There are few things that so perfectly represent the capitalist mode of production as generative AI. It’s theft. It’s plagiarism. It’s an attack on labor. It destroys the environment. It produces junk. It’s harmful to consume. It concentrates wealth. In short, it’s a catastrophe for society.

speak at campaign debates, rallies, and town halls.

Among others, this quartet of Senate candidates are demonstrating the ferocity
liberals and Democrats have been demanding from the party’s politicians.

They are also sending a clear signal that the party’s future belongs to those who will take the fight directly to Donald Trump and his beleaguered MAGA coalition.

💥Democrats must adapt to the new rules of political combat.

They need not mirror Trump’s crass, racist, and misogynistic rhetoric.

But they should attack more fiercely,
and be less apologetic.

🔥When Republicans go low,
Democrats should step on them.

Breaking News: Musk Admits He Restricted Starlink Service

Elon Musk acknowledged that SpaceX cut off Starlink saying, "Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week."

Ukrainian presidential adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov said on the Telegram app that the country is "physically unable" to use Starlink for long- and medium-range attack drone

IMO, a very good move by Talarico to make the Texas Senate race about Elon Musk.

Democrat James Talarico targets Elon Musk at rally: ‘Texas is not for sale’

I was in a taxi the other day, an electric Toyota, and it was constantly bugging the driver with various “driver safety aids”, like literally a stream of bongs and chimes and sirens. And half of them were “driver inattention! Sit up and look forwards!” He was sitting up and looking forwards, but also he was black, so the car’s interior camera was not registering him properly. But hey, tech is neutral and AI doesn’t encode bias.

Carville said it out loud: he'd rather have the GOP remain in control than for the Dems to form a coalition with the left.

A point for honesty (such a rare thing to find these days), but minus several million for stupidity.

more or less confirms that the PHP exploit on Wednesday was overblown, and contrary to claims it would be exploited in 15 mins, we haven’t even seen one confirmed exploit yet. even proof of concept exploits are incredibly hard to write and deploy.

AI companies were lying. again

On the one hand, using LLM code is like building medical science on nazi concentration camp data and the moon race using all those V2 rocket engineers.

On the other hand, it's like the drugs that only EVER got tested on white men aged 18-35 and suddenly thalidomide babies.

The scientific world was just starting to wrestle with things like "publishing negative results" when the mansplaining engine showed up, a rhetorical cotton gin to belch out rationalizations for arbitrary bullshit.

I'm at the point where I don't even want opt-in "'AI' capability" in any software I'm forced to use, because the griftslop bastards will absolutely steal everything, nailed down or not, EVEN IF the settings are turned to "no, no, absolutely not, HELL no."

@sue What was the quote I stumbled across a while back? 🤔 Ah yes…here it is

While Google is breaking the other half of the web with their craptastic compression algorithm Brotli, I spent the morning getting rid of JavaScript minimization. Bandwidth is cheap now (for everyone except Google), and I'd rather skip the build step and have any error messages refer to the real source line number.

Someone is panicking.

This is a fun, but incredibly addictive game. It’s basically the Cities Skylines / Mini Metro / Factorio equivalent, but for building an internet.

If you’re the kind of person that can blink and accidentally lose a couple of hours when playing those other games, then set a timer before you click!
