Daniel and I have fully executed (signed, witnessed, and notarized) wills! Next stop for those is the King County Wills Repository where they will probably sit until Something Bad Happens.
My digital emergency documents folder has been updated with PDF copies and the README has details on where the originals can be obtained.
I've emailed my emergency contacts (including the wonderful @jonobie) to let them know about the updated digital documents and they already know how to access them.

The deck UI from the Masto 5.0 nightly (v5.0.0-nightly.2026-10-22) is laughably bad today. Maybe we shouldn't be deploying beta code to the largest Mastodon instance every night?
Been under the weather for a week and finally felt good enough (and not contagious!) to get a light arm day workout in. Focused on lighter weights with slower, more controlled movements (per my PT's recommendation).
In a break from the tech chaos: I finished A Trade of Blood by Robert Jackson Bennett last night -- that's the third book in The Tainted Cup series. It's another solid mystery and perhaps better than the second book.
I highly recommend this series if you like good world building, mysteries, and queer/on-the-spectrum characters. The only reason it's not going to be on next year's QBfP list is that the second book is already in line 😅

And today reminds me just how pleased I am with the hours and hours I've spent over the past decade keeping the DProofreaders code updated and running on the latest PHP because all I had to do today was to apply the PHP patch, not touch any of the code (older versions of PHP didn't get updates).
This isn't throwing shade at folks with code running on outdated PHP versions that are now behind the 8-ball, just happy I'm not one of them because of time invested prior (thanks Past Casey!!).

Last night after the PHP vuln exploit was revealed I made the decision to take the DProofreaders and PGLAF websites offline completely (stopped php-fpm) until we could get the fix applied this morning.
Most of the other admin staff are on the US East coast and it was past their bedtime so I made the decision mostly by myself. I figured taking the sites offline for ~8h was better than the alternative. I feel good about the decision this morning but it was nerve wracking to make in the moment.
@gairdeachas Mmm Adams peanut butter is good.
Similarly, Bonne Maman makes good jams and the jars are great for storing smaller quantities. The labels slip off easily after soaking in water. I use them for storing individual servings of the dry mix for my breakfast oatmeal/chia porridge, and we also use them as cocktail/drinking glasses.
These are the larger 36oz jars and our local Kroger chain sells them but Target doesn't. IIRC we were able to buy them online once during the pandemic.
This is a little niche, but it's the Fedi so who knows.
If your US household likes peanut butter and also buys things in bulk, I highly recommend the Adams peanut butter. The peanut butter is delicious (contains only peanuts and salt) AND because the glass jars are excellent for reuse for dry goods as the lids have a small built-in gasket.
We use them for oats, beans, honey, rice, etc and smaller containers for gluten, salt, and sugar. We have a couple dozen of them.
There's nothing like being responsible for internet-facing servers for two non-profits with software built with PHP right now, let me tell you.
Taking a shower, shaving, getting dressed, and having breakfast wasn't enough to trick my body into feeling well.
Maybe lunch and a nap will help?

Reminder that it’s ok to go to a food bank if you’re struggling to buy groceries. At least in my part of California, anyone at all can walk in and get stuff without proving need.
And that’s why they exist!! It’s ok to make use of them.
Our household has been unwell in varying degrees since Thursday evening. Yesterday was our scheduled every-2-week grocery run that didn't happen. I scrounged around to throw dinner together tonight but tomorrow was going to be challenging.
I opted to go to the store tonight rather than risk feeling worse tomorrow morning, getting to noon, and realizing we had nothing for lunch. 😱
This hangry-avoidance strategy is a gift of love to my husband.
Heya Washington state residents: 5 of our 9 State Supreme Court positions are on the ballot!
And while these are nominally non-partisan positions we know that's a bag of bullshit: everything is partisan. A conservative WA Supreme Court would be very bad for WA state.
Please take the time to research these candidates. Consult your voter's pamphlet or the always-humorous-but-informative Stranger endorsements.
