In case you're ever wondering what my motives are, they are largely this:

Raking up the back yard today, I noticed that we've lost a lot more topsoil since last year.

I think it's a bad idea to rake and get rid of it, instead of composting and using it to regenerate the soil. But that isn't feasible for us (see also, landlord).

This worries me. About as much as the city grit that collects on everything.

Please do not discount somebody coming to their senses and getting the hell out. Occasionally, people realize they made a mistake and move to correct it.

I don't buy it. I don't think there are. At best those news outlets are being trolled.

I don't understand why AI bros are so big on creating an artificial super intelligence. They're so short-sighted about it. Why would they want to create something that immediately makes them worth as much as the rest of us in comparison (i.e., almost nothing)?
