Let’s not worry about last nights result - I’m so so happy seeing all the videos about the Tartan Army in Boston the last few days, being happy and joyful and making friends.
Very happy to be Scottish - and I look forward to the day I go back to the US, I’ll need to stop off in Boston :-)
I’m starting my #road2tnc in the UK looking forward to continuing our work on equality and diversity from Brighton last year. Helsinki here we come :-)
I just got a reMarkable Paper Pro Move; the junction of my love of the mechanical act of writing on paper and Eink as a way cool technology. I’m very happy with it.
But also the company is *Norwegian* and in this moment I’m so happy to support a European technology company.
If you would like to watch an amazing cyber-waitress-robo-assassin dramedy writen and directed by @tillybridges and @susanlbridges
I think this links might still work for the next couple of weeks?
You should watch it, it’s good.
I’d like to relate a funny story from the conference this week, where we were all trying to meet up with everyone we needed to have discussions with.
And so I was, talking to a good colleague, upon which time someone I think of as a good friend saw me and out of the blue offered me one of the plushy mascots they’ve got for their HPC cluster, and moved on.
Cue “are you someone that people just come up to you and offer you gifts!?”
I feel good about this.
Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance: as a community, we deserve the right to exist, and to mourn those who are no longer with us.
My love to you all 🏳️⚧️🫂
For anyone that might be following me from New York, you know what you need to do today.
The thought-provoking part of my holiday was going to see the KPop Demon Hunters Sing A Long (the movie was of course great on a big screen).
We only had a small audience, and the persistent thought I had coming out of the theatre seeing their reactions, which has persisted, is:
I wish I was a girl.
As trailed a little bit ago, I’m fairly sure that this is the first anniversary of me starting to read Begin Transmission by @tillybridges, little knowing then the amazing impact it would have on my life and the lovely, incredible people I would meet as a result.
Well I think I can mark today down as a success :-)
Alongside the TV show, the barn itself, the Croft Barn, is really interesting in its own right.
Only late in the development cycle did NASA realize they could use giant cats to transport the shuttle instead of a 747
I posted about me updating my pronouns to they/them, but I’m comfortable making a specific update:
I identify as non-binary, and there is a part of me that is trans-femme.
Her name is Hayley.
Inspired by a conversation with @boxofrain - time to rewatch all the Mission Impossible movies.
@gedeonm @bigzaphod I feel like we might all be posting about Strange New Worlds soon, and I wanted to ask if you had favourite episodes so far? I’ll go first - my heart belongs to Subspace Rhapsody.
So apparently I’m just doing this out loud now: I’m updating my pronouns from he/they to they/them. Not much has changed, in truth, but I feel like this gives me more freedom.
*Yes* I know about the pipeline, hush now.
Let it be known that, perhaps solely for my own reasons, in preparation for an event I’m hosting next week, I have procured … a laminator.
I’m confident that the responses to that last statement will fall squarely into either “what, why?” or “yes exactly”.
But: I now have exclusive access to a laminator.
My trashy TV hookup at the moment is The Blacklist, and: there’s an episode in which the good guys are trying to extract a thing while the bad guys lock them out, and it becomes a race between progress bars.
Which since we all know that progress bars *in real life* are completely fictitious, it all becomes unintentionally hilarious.
