FTA: "Academia’s duty to protect open knowledge like that produced on Wikipedia is grounded in its privileged position within and structural connection to knowledge."

And to think once #academia, including some #librarians, thought #Wikipedia was evil incarnate not to be used. How time flies.

This 👇🏻 , and I am also sick and tired of those in #academia and #HigherEd , including #librarians who should know better, rushing to embrace it and assisting said rich assholes.

There is some outside delay, someone holding up the flow. You've got to wait, so use this time constructively. The delay is mostly a nuisance, so don't let it throw off your rhythm.

Oh, the Ivy League are not the only #HigherEd surrender monkeys when it comes to #AISlop. And this includes #librarians who should know better.

FTA: "The idea that preparing students to succeed in an AI-saturated world requires reimagining college as an AI incubator is not a sign of technological acumen, but of tech illiteracy."

A detail Puerto Ricans and others tend to forget is that when it comes to US citizenship, "Supreme Court has said citizenship is granted by statute and full constitutional protections do not apply. "

Friendly tip from your local online friendly librarian: spamming a library's virtual reference chat to try to sell us your book directly is not really going to work. You come across more as a nuisance.

For most part we rely on reputable (emphasis on reputable) book reviews to make our book purchase decisions.

Pshaw, some of us #librarians have been telling readers for years to drop any book that does not work for them. Heck, I do it; I just don't really advertise it. So read what you want and makes you happy, release what does not.

They say this is a time "to reflect on the blessings of being a beacon of hope and democratic freedom."

Oh honey, the #AmericanEmpire has not been a beacon of anything for a good while now other than #imperialism, #warfare, #invasions, and toppling governments they disliked then enabling Right Wing dictatorships.

And before any of you exceptional gringos come to whine, read a fucking book or two.

Colonial ranting aside, you can also get the documents they mention via GovInfo. Need help? Ask your local librarian.

So the #CosmicJoker laughs.
