These reimplementations are getting out of control

This is the LLM usage that should stop. Don’t rebuild stuff that exists. This goes beyond just “cloning” a program to change the license. Your version of “how much energy will my solar panels get” or other obvious question solver is no better, and often materially worse, than the one(s) that already exist.

Bonus rant statement: stop using non-determinism for deterministic processes. If you have a deterministic situation, write a script of one doesn’t already exist.

“Look Daddy. This one is you.”

@simon Have you looked at Fara-7B? I’m wondering if I missed a comment from you. It claims to operate as a local only computer use model at the pixel level.

Are open-source contributions drying up because new developers aren’t connecting with the community? The rise of consumer-first coders who don’t see the roots of their tools in open source could be our biggest challenge in 2025. They skip the gratitude phase—straight to proprietary SaaS.
