If you're going to #seagl, please let them know!
SeaGL is a very different sort of conference: Likely more safe and respectful than you've ever experienced before. This makes it a bit harder for the organizers to get accurate attendance numbers, but these numbers are needed for planning, sponsorships, everything.
This is now real, real soon! See you in room 332 at #SeaGL
Nice to see that Patches is still holding air at #SeaGL 14 "Freedom is Elemental"
a reminder that if you see a vendor having an unscheduled outage today to apply PHP patches - that is actually one of the most encouraging things you can see from an #infosec perspective, because it means
A) someone/some people at the vendor is paying attention
B) that person/people has enough sway to have them bring down prod in the middle of the day to apply patches
C) enough people at the vendor actually know what software they are running to know its an issue that needs to be dealt with
So, reach out to them and let them know you appreciate it - so they have something to show people who push back the next time a similar thing happens
You just can’t say no to that face.
You have decided to forsake the thinking sand, the wretched computer! What’s your new calling?

Edit: looks like it’s been shuttered.
pyconf dot org is a fake event, a scam.
Notes:
- Domain registered after CFP closed.
- Venue doesn't admit its existence: https://fortmason.org/events/
- AI gen headshots, and speakers who aren't, in 100% of the the companies my network can see into, employees at those companies and never have been. Those people don't exist.
A couple of the listed "sponsors'" corporate legal teams have already been advised and word is they're furious.
This is a project that my uncle Joel Lefkowitz does for every major election cycle, where he analyzes the map looking for maximum-leverage districts with good local candidates whose candidates can make WAY more efficient use of the money than the big national campaigns you've been seeing blaring incessantly on the news
OKAY WE ARE LIVE NOW FINALLY: If you are able to donate to elections in the USA, please give up to the legal maximum to https://superswingdistricts.org/2026/

Two bits of advice for US voters going into the midterms:
1. If you can, vote early. You will save campaigns one door knock to get out your vote.
2. Make a plan to vote right now. For example, my early voting place is 500 Federal St in Troy and I'm planning to go next Saturday after I visit the farmer's market.
