Oh my God.

2/2 (*) Bluesky doesn't have to make money YET. The fact that they're focused on building their user base (read, preparing to capitalize on a network effect) means they're able to be much more user-quality-of-life oriented right now.

When the bills come due, especially from crypto-bros propping it up, stay tuned for that priority to change.

That by itself is a good reason to keep this federated community growing and improving, to be the best possible next alternative.

(edit: spelling)

We've got to come to terms with the fact that, until/unless Bluesky turns really toxic (*) the mass exodus from the nazi birdsite is going to Bluesky, not Mastodon.

We can't change that, but:
- We can take it as an opportunity to learn what Mastodon is missing
- We can continue to build this community, so it's ready when/if Bluesky gets toxic
- We can keep treasuring what we've found and built here.

I cynically assume the only reason this doesn't happen all the time is that airlines get to make money off people paying to about the chaos.

I saw something mind-bogglingly common sense at an airport earlier this month.

Usually I see early boarding or group one and two get a dedicated line, and everybody else is just in a free for all.

On my flight from Edmonton to Vancouver, Air Canada had separate lines for all six boarding groups. Want to board early? Line up early in your group. There was no crowding. There were no " gate lice" getting in the way. It was lovely.

I wish that was happening at the gate I'm waiting at right now.

I didn't think this song would be relevant again, but here we go.

It's got a strong #uspol element, but it's one of John K Samson's usual heartbreaking/beautiful kind of songs. With some swearing, because, well, yeah. Maybe you've heard it @GeePawHill ? Probably up your alley anyways.
