As predicted, the blue bars were way too blue. LOL I grated some of the bars up and put the shavings into an uncolored batch at super-thick trace to see how it worked out.
I'm very pleased with the result.

Rustic. LOL
pH tests at 9, so it’s real soap. Popped right out of the mild. Much easier to clean up than cold process. Still pretty hot after several hours.
I’ll have to incorporate some HP into the catalog. :ablobcathappypaws:
I love mashed potatoes! Too bad this is hot process soap.
Let's see how this turns out.
This batch had an interesting pour. I put the dark layer down and wanted to texture it for the pour. It was was too thin, though, so I decided to continue without the contours. When I went back to the bowl, the base soap had already thickened up! I haven't heard of micas slowing trace, but that's the only difference. 🤷
Supporting my theory that all soap looks like delicious, delicious food, here's the latest batch. This is the shea butter recipe I've been using for a while with Tobacco & Bay Leaf scent from Brambleberry. The brown is a Cappuccino mica from there as well. The lighter layer is uncolored, bu the scent gives a nice tinge of brown. Makes it all look like some fudge you get in a tourist town.
Still trying to use up the huge mount of brick red oxide pigment I accidentally bought years ago.
This color is totally natural. I promise. :ablobwink:
To everyone's relief, I made a batch of soap this morning. You can all relax now.
Something embarrassing just happened -- I had to actually buy soap. I've had so little time lately that I've not actually been able to make any...and now I've run out. :blobsad:
:bloblaugh:
It’s time to keep your head on a swivel.
This is the first time I've ever seen an aurora.
How is there a hurricane hitting the west coast? This ain’t normal.
We're running low on soap, so I made some last night. This is the same recipe I've used for a couple years now and it turned out great. The form was a little full and it expanded into cardboard I had covering it. No harm.
Very happy with the result!
