Wow. "Taco Bell's quality has really gone downhill recently" is not a thought I ever expected to have. Because... well. But, wow.

Any Swedish-speakers within reach?

As a native English speaker, how do I pronounce "hej"?

So, China has a system that has their internet largely walled-off from the rest of the world, right?

Do you think maybe the rest of us could do that, from this side, to Russia? Just cut them off from being able to access us at all? I mean, less drastically than the current Ukranian plan--though I am very impressed with it so far.

Just detect any internet traffic from Russia, and deny it outright?

Do you ever get the feeling that all of Mastodon is just one big house party, and the only difference between you and someone you don't follow yet is that you haven't gotten up to their floor yet--but we all know someone who knows someone we know?

The last time someone messaged me with, "can you call me? I have news", it was a friend I hadn't spoken to in a few years but loved very much telling me that a mutual friend I loved very much had died from a fentanyl overdose.

My mother couldn't possibly know that, but her approach for whatever the hell this news is was not a good one.

I wrote back, "I just this minute got into bed, and late at that. Is someone dying?"

Five minutes later, her response: "No, no one is dying. Tomorrow is fine. Sorry. Good night."

Okay. Sure. I'm sure Busybrain won't play with that all night. 🙄🫠

*Seconds* after I get into bed, my mother emails, asking if I can phone her (rare for us) because she has news.

Fuck. One way or another, I foresee not getting much sleep tonight.

What's the simplest, best, no-fail bread #recipe you know? (No bread makers or air fryers involved, please)

Where does the phrase come from, to call someone "a good egg"?

Geez Louise! Apparently, I'm not allowed to say anything this afternoon. Every time I hit Post, it starts throwing errors. I'm fighting to get anything up at all.

I see that Shell stations (at least around here) have changed their pumps again, this time to put a screen right in front that'll run ads *with sound* at you while you pump.

Nope.

Won't go back to Shell as long as those are there. F.U.

Esso tried this about five or ten years ago. I stopped going to them. I can't have been the only one who felt that way, because it wasn't long until they got rid of it.

Surely, there's some way to reheat restaurant nachos that works. But I haven't found it yet.

In past attempts, I've learned that the microwave simply doesn't work, because they chips get all soggy and limp. So I figured I'd warm it in the oven, just low at 200F or so. But guess what? Soggy chips.

I'm guessing now it must be the time in the fridge that's making them soggy, not the reheating method. So unless you're going to have them quite shortly after having them in the first place, and therefore haven't had to put them in the fridge, I guess they're just doomed. Too bad, really. 🙁

Aw, crap.

Tomorrow, I'll buy chicken stock. 🙄

Then, you know what that means. 😃🥣

It's fall. Ham was on sale at the grocery store. And there's still a package of dried split peas in the cupboard.

You know that that means. 😃🥣

Isn't someone else supposed to be doing this?

The server's right, the day is right, the time is right...

Shouldn't someone be declaring that it's...

Well, I don't want to say, because it's not my place. But something along the lines of "weekend' and "beige" and "bitches", if I remember correctly?

I'm looking for a hanging lamp. I'd like to shop Canadian. Suggestions?

Hey, #bookstodon :

Do you think that using an old book for a craft project, where you take out the pages and use the cover, is sacrilege?

What about if it's a Bible or something like that?

Went all the way (in feed timeline) from bedtime to this morning, and except for one cat, one dog, one cloud, one cool rock, and one weaving project, it was all Covid, politics, food recalls, AI apocalypse (until coming back to two responses to the above toot).

Now I have to get busy and attack the 98% of my weekend list that I've left until Sunday.

Good morning. 😞

A particularly doomy scroll this morning. Half an hour so far, still waiting to see one single thing that's not bad news. Not even one.
