One of my Masto peeps, and if I may add, highly esteemed PhD smarty pants who educates young minds, Doc Zoe has written a sci-fi, dystopian novel and is giving away some copies!
If this sounds like your thing (looking at you @greene because it also has a cat in it and queer characters) maybe go check out the description. Maybe see how you can pick up one of those said copies.
Maybe Doc Z will let me know how *I* can get one of those copies?
Hm? Hm? Hm? Please? 🙂
Yesterday Luna was showing off her French tip pedi.
About a month or so ago I mentioned getting back on the electrolysis horse again and how I'd found a tech who seemed trans friendly.
Heeee!!! 🥰
She's very much so. Doesn't have all the right language but she's very affirming and kind.
Yeah, so I went and saw her this morning for an appointment. My chin now looks like I've been stung by several bees and am having a reaction.
Not liking this Jay Leno look at all.
In the summer of 1983, when I was 16yrs old I went to my first rock concert. If you’re doing the math… yes, I really am that old.
Yeah, so five friends of mine and I piled into a van owned by a guy named Steve and yes, it was the stereotypical 1970s van that an 80s stoner kid would be driving. We met at our high school and at about 10 o’clock at night we headed out to stake our spot in line at the Houston Astrodome so we could get wrist bands. Those wrist bands would allow us to buy tickets later on and they were like gold once you had them strapped to your wrist. The van broke down on the frontage road about a mile away from the line and about 20 seconds later, without saying a word, Steve and James jumped out and started running toward the Astrodome. The other two guys immediately left and me and my best friend at the time, Wade, sat there wondering what to do. Should we just leave the van? Stay? What if it gets towed? We chose to run and catch up to the guys.
And so who was the band that would cause us to do such stupid shit as teenagers?… my favorite band at the time and one so influential on me: the Canadian trio, Rush.

Now I know I tend to drag The BizPartner a lot via my #ConversationWithTheBizPartner tag. But today is not the day I'll be doing that. In fact, sometimes, rare as they might be, there are little flashes of brilliance where he can actually be cool. This is one of those times.
Several weeks ago he bought tickets to see Rush here in Houston for their 50 Something Reunion Tour. And when a friend of his couldn’t make it, instead of selling it and getting his money back for the insanely expensive, 8th row, floor seats… he asked if I wanted to go instead. No cost. No pay him even a little something for the ticket. Just go. This despite the fact that I've turned him down every single instance he's ever asked me to go to a concert or anywhere with him.
He didn’t even know how big a fan I was of the band. He just asked if I would go. It wasn't until I started to rattle off useless, Jeopardy knowledge about the band and its history during the hour long trip to the arena in downtown Houston that he found out. On the ride back he said he was really glad I was able to go because of me being such a big fan. He even bought me a hoodie and a shirt.
It was a pretty amazing show. The guys, at age 73, are simply incredible musicians. And the drummer they hired to sit in for Neil?... she's unbelievable. Anika Nilles is stupidly proficient and her chemistry with Alex and Geddy is undeniable. The guys really threaded the needle choosing her to be on this tour and fill the shoes of one of the greatest drummers in rock history. And it's really heartwarming how Rush fans have embraced the 43yr old drummer during the tour.
I doubt I’ll ever go to a major rock concert again, so to book-end my first and last with Rush is pretty awesome. I’ve been really fortunate to see some pretty cool bands over the past 40yrs. But this one?... this was pretty damn special.

Here ya go Chris.
Welp. September's ending. Can someone please wake me up from this damn nightmare that's been happening all month?
I was listening to an interview on Houston Public Media during my drive in to work this morning and the host was interviewing three people with a nonprofit group aimed at helping veterans in the Houston area.
There was something said about trauma that caught my attention… so much that I when I got to the office I looked for the episode to post so I could go back to it. This is what was said and I find it helpful in that if I can understand this, then maybe I can fix it. I thought you might like to read this, too in case you don’t already know it.
The interviewee began talking about PTSD and trauma. He said, “What I’ve understood PTSD to be is a massive disconnection with love.”
His next sentence was a quick way where it’s almost as if he’s talking from the victim’s perspective now. He continued, “I’ve experienced something I was helpless to and that I consider a violation.” Then back to his definition and understand of PTSD and trauma. “And when those two things happen that’s when trauma is born. And when it’s born our central nervous system tells us that it’s overwhelmed, it can’t make sense in a desire to make meaning out of something it can’t make meaning from… it then blames the self.
And that can cause shame, a break in identity, this nagging voice that says, “that was your fault.”
Rationally and logically we know that isn't true. Somehow we believe it to be though. I think if we can get over that hump that we somehow believe it's our fault or generalize the traumatic events as applying to everyone or everything in our lives so that we can stop over protecting ourselves, we can get on to living.
I started thinking about this and realized there may be some people who are relatively new followers, who may not know the story about Nathan.
So one important thing to understand is that I'm a lesbian. Like I'm so gay. I fall off the Kenzie scale. That's how much of a lesbian I am.
But about a year ago, I was at an outdoor archery range, and I was there all by myself. That is until some good ol' country boy shows up and starts, shooting his bow as well. Now I've been moaned on here a number of times how my Flirt-0-Meter is busted. But even my dumbass could tell that Nathan was a little sweet on me and he started trying to talk to me.
I relayed the entire story in an audio clip and ever since then Wallflower has ruthlessly poked fun at me about this.
So that's a short and condensed version of Nathan.
Today is the first day of fall... the autumnal equinox. The high in Houston will be 97° F. With the heat index, we might get to a feels-like temp of 100° F. So damn hot.
Hopefully, I can get home early enough from work to bathe my dogs finally. At least the sun and heat will dry them off kinda quick 🥵
So my tittie got whipped by an electric cord. And I didn't even have to pay anyone to do it.
😖😫😭
Kind of a long day at the office. Just left about 20min ago. At least when I get home in 20 min I get to fire up my electric lawnmower and mow the front yard. 😑
I just found out about a sapphic group that meets:
— once a month
— in the Houston area
— on the weekend
And now I feel sick even imagining going and actually meeting a bunch of lesbians in real life. Ugh. I feel like a fraud. 😕😞
Eeesh. I just saw a couple of my toots from last night when Tipsy Wren was with us. Apparently i am a *very* cheap date. A beer and a half is all it takes (arguably three quarters of a beer) and I become silly, goofy and my sentence syntax and spelling goes out the window.
Well more so than my already silly, goofy and messed up sentence syntax self.
Good morning everyone. ☺️

p.s. Hey @Wallflower come get tipsy with me.
I was noodling around on my guitar and remembered a song I wrote a long time ago that I haven't thought of in a really long time.
It's coincidental because the subject of the song kind of parallels a thread I was in with @Wallflower and @stephaniepixie yesterday.
I recorded the first verse of it on my phone so it's pretty raw, it's been a long time since I've attempted to play so I barely remember it and I haven't picked up my guitar in three weeks. Don't come at me.
Good deed done and good karma points earned while getting off the plane at my layover. I carried the loaded down backpack of a young mom with her very young, six?... eight month old?... baby.
