It's a little difficult to claim it was a "bug" when we have access to the commit where it was clearly and intentionally done.

Having been caught with their hands in the cookie jar again, Bluesky are now claiming it was a bug (that somehow only affected fan sites that aren't Pornhub) and they're fixing it.

Me: it's still hard for me to accept that big tech did "embrace, extend, extinguish" of Linux 🙄
Bae: it's worse, they did "embrace, extend, extinguish" of Linus 🫩

Remember when we were warning you about Bluesky targeting adult creators? Well, they're back at it.

Now they're blocking profile links to OF and other adult fan sites.

Artists of all industries must continue to also fight this wave of being attributed to an LLM made thing but they, the artist cited, never made the LLM thing. Gods I hate this timeline. ChatGPT is adding real cartoonists’ signatures to fake New Yorker cartoons. https://www.niemanlab.org/2026/10/chatgpt-is-adding-real-cartoonists-signatures-to-fake-new-yorker-cartoons/ #FuckAI

RIP to the closed caption workforce, tossed aside by AI generated slop that can’t discern jargon, accents, idiom, slang and all the things that actual humans can understand and transcribe. I feel sorry for deaf people who use streaming services that use that garbage.

Converted some fun audio described lets plays to audiobooks, with chapters, for later listening! If anyone here in the Fedi does unique lets plays, I'd love to try it out! I usually prefer audio described let's plays like https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxdL_J3qnnBp3eiiGELjBISCuUmwkch4E #Gaming #YouTube #LetsPlay

I'm sorry but this made me laugh, but also #Fediverse scam alert, this is not how verification works!

Please remember to leave your feedback on the 5.0 design that’s live on mastodon.social and mastodon.online on https://community.joinmastodon.org or the team might not see it in time. There’s an upvote function next to topics (confusingly, not the reactions underneath) that lets you sort topics by most votes.

This guy should probably be doing this full time and have a globally distributed team of paid helpers working under him. Instead, he's got a Patreon.

It seems to me that the last several years have demonstrated the shortcomings of FOSS as a set of organizing principles for computing, so I've developed a set of principles meant, not as a replacement, but as a corrective, and written them out as a sort of manifesto. Check it out here: https://destructured.net/casa

Feedback welcome. Much thanks to @zoy and @alderwick and @neauoire for theirs.

@JessicaAnnEng "We want you to plagiarise an essay."
"Can I write an original one?"
"No."

She came home with an email update.
"Also, I know that some of you are opposed to using #AI and I want you to know that I respect that. I care about the environment and would not ask you to use something that is incredibly detrimental to our planet." Between several different classes, "we are using about 5-6 gallons of water total for this assignment."

The teacher then proceeds to say that if the student still does not want to do the assignment, then they will deduct five points and require them to write a few paragraphs about what they would put on the cover. They explicitly stated that any artwork done by hand was unacceptable.

My daughter does not want me to pursue this on her behalf. I think docking any points is bogus.

Apparently, my daughter was given an assignment to use generative #AI to create a poster / cover for A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court in her English class. She took offense to this and asked if she could just do the assignment by hand or digitally using one of her #art apps. She was told no. So, my daughter decided to take a stand and not do the assignment. We support her decision completely. Asking someone who lives for creating her own art to use AI and refusing to accept anything else is inexcusable.

This infamous PHP quote could be the best explainer of how nobody understands, nor cares to understand, the life of a working writer if it went like this.

Philomena: Some people have been writing books for over 20 years. Is that because it's particularly difficult to finish?

Expert: No, existential dread is constantly evolving.

Philomena: So they've been writing the same thing for 20 years?

Expert: No, different projects.

Philomena: Have they tried finishing one before starting another?

Expert: That's not how existential dread works.

Philomena: My mate Paul spent 20 years building a shed. Turned out he was just an alcoholic.

Expert: Right.

Philomena: Is art like that?

In case you needed to dislike JK Rowling even more:

"Neil Blair established High Line Publishing Studio to help Jewish and Israeli literary figures who are being 'shunned.' Blair represents such leading literary lights as JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series."

My new book HYPERSCALE is finally out this week!

Yesterday I went on MS NOW’s The Beat with Ari Melber to talk about data centers, AI, and the threats that come of how tech billionaires have shaped the technology to benefit themselves at everyone else’s expense.
